Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Went to Flyers-Rangers the other night. The NHL should mandate larger ice surfaces to open up the game. That was not an entertaining display of hockey.

That being said, Lundqvist is a very good goalie...two went in but they were both whacky bounces...one off a guy's face.

Lupul goes coast to coast for the game winner against Carolina.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

On the remote possibility that some of you NHL fans from time to time might wager a dollar or two on the outcome of a game, let me pass along one piece of data. This year's regular season NHL schedule is top-heavy with games within a team's division. With that in mind...

Last night Vancouver beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1, and scored two empty net goals in the last minute and a half. Nothing too unusual there. In the last twenty meetings between the two teams--including last night's encounter--the Canucks are 18-0-2 versus the Avs. That's: eighteen-zero-and-two. The teams meet for the final time this season on Saturday April 13 in Denver. Might be a chance to pick up the money you'll need to pay those nasty taxes due on April 15. ;)

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

The Rangers just need to change coaches. There's too much talent on the roster for them to be so mediocre this season.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

In a move that surprises no one, the Wings have successfully inked ex-WMU free agent DeKeyser. 2-year entry level deal. He will practice with the big club, and get some ice time with them soon to evaluate his game at the pro level.

I think Ken Holland is breathing a bit easier at the moment. With all the hype DeKeyser has gotten, and with him being a Detroit-area native, I suspect Holland would've have a lot more doubters if he'd swung and missed here.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Kids are too scared to make a mistake because they are afraid that they will get sent back to Hartford. Can't lead like that.
QFT. Torts came in espousing a playing style summed up by the mantra "safe is death" but his guys can't play that way for fear of winding up in his doghouse. Look at Gaborik, a year after scoring 40 goals and his confidence seems completely shot.

Re: NHL 2013 - The Lower 48.

Honestly, I am just happy to see them show some fight and try to keep it interesting after going down by three in the third. Wild teams of the past would have folded up the tent after going down by one.
