NFL 2022-23: How About A Lions vs. Jaguars Super Bowl?

I'd agree that Mayfield has probably seen what's in the Oakland playbook, just under different labels. In today's game, I think a lot of adjustments in the passing game are made on or outside of the margins of any called play. Receivers read their situations and quarterbacks need to know what the resulting rout will be and how much time they have to allow it to open up. So learning the playbook is a challenge, but learning how their receivers and blockers will respond to each situation is just as challenging. That and, like Brady and P. Manning showed, teaching those people what he needs to make it all work.

Davonte Adams will make big plays on anybody's team, but he and Rogers developed a connection that was very hard to defend.

I imagine each teams terminology is the biggest learning curve. The plays themselves are all things most QBs have seen already.

If it was any other position it wouldn't seem as big of a deal to me. You have to learn your route or your blocking assignment and those likely aren't all that different across the league. But a QB needs to know all of that for everyone on the field and each play is going to have variations. Maybe LAR went a little simpler on playcalling, but it's still hard to comprehend. Then again he is one of the top 60 guys in the world so I'm likely underestimating him.

It was nice to see Baker do well, but at the same time, Oakland should have been able to score more than 16 points. They lost this game as much as LA won it. The turn overs and the incredibly dumb penalties on the last drive.

Heck, even on the PI interception- he should have kept running just to run the clock down. Then the moron who knocked the ball out of bakers hands right in front of the red- come on- how do you not know that is penalty…

Oakland handed the chance to Baker on a gold plated platter, and he grabbed it.

Am I overestimating how difficult it is to learn a playbook, or does it seem absurd Baker Mayfield has studied it enough in two days to play tonight?

It's possible that somewhere he's played had used a similar scheme. Then it's just a matter of learning their terminology for a system you already were familiar with.

In the past, when a new QB comes in like this, the coaching staff will remove big chunks of their playbooks and run 50-60 core plays, which are often derivatives of each other.

The toughest part of it all is learning to work with his receivers. They may break routes differently than he’s used to seeing.

Mr Irrelevant making his first career start is favored by 3.5 over the guy with the most Super Bowls of any player or team.

W T F?!

The NFL fined Patriots quarterback Mac Jones $10,609 for unsportsmanlike conduct during last week’s loss to the Bills, according to a report from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. After Bills defensive end A.J. Epenesa sacked Jones on a third-down play with 2:43 remaining, Jones flipped the ball at Epenesa, who was standing next to the referee. Jones was not flagged on the play, which led to a Patriots field goal.

Earlier in the same drive, Bills safety Damar Hamlin drilled Jakobi Meyers in the end zone and concussed him. While the hit drew an unnecessary roughness penalty, Hamlin was only fined $4,806 on Saturday, per ESPN.

Purdy has already thrown for a TD and rushed for a TD for the 49ers, and the Bucs kicker Ryan Succop is also a Mr Irrelevant. Assuming he gets an XP or FG, has there been a game before where two Mr Irrelevant's scored?

NEW: 9+ inches of snow is expected in Buffalo by Saturday night for Dolphins-Bills, the National Weather Service says.
