I'd agree that Mayfield has probably seen what's in the Oakland playbook, just under different labels. In today's game, I think a lot of adjustments in the passing game are made on or outside of the margins of any called play. Receivers read their situations and quarterbacks need to know what the resulting rout will be and how much time they have to allow it to open up. So learning the playbook is a challenge, but learning how their receivers and blockers will respond to each situation is just as challenging. That and, like Brady and P. Manning showed, teaching those people what he needs to make it all work.
