NFL 2016-17: Your Fantasy Team Will Suck This Year.

Re: NFL 2016-17: Your Fantasy Team Will Suck This Year.

Several friends of mine have done both a tour and attended the first pre-season game. Only one was less than impressed and he's a curmudgeon so...

I'm a curmudgeon too, but I loved TCF, CHS, Target Field, and Xcel the moment I stepped in. Each of them left me agog with beauty, character, engineering marvel, appropriateness of the design, and modernity.

USB has none of those aside from engineering marvel. It's the single most sterile building I have ever been in. And that includes the late Science Classroom Building at Minnesota.

The concourses are narrow, poorly lit, and loud. The colors look like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie in a building that has been bleached by the sun for decades before being muddled by a nuclear winter. The chairs are so flimsy that when they Vikings break our heart for the first time in the stadium, when everyone sits down in resignation, they're going to go through the back of them. The chairs also have to be the most narrow I've sat in, including the wooden seats at Fenway. There was something like two things in the stadium that reminded me what team played there. Otherwise it could have been any team that wore purple.

I will say once nice thing, the bathrooms at the Medtronic Club are nice.

More than one friend of mine who has been there has said they generally liked it but had two of the exact complaints you did -- the concourses were way too narrow (one said it was exactly like the Vikings games at the Metrodome) and the seats were very narrow.

It actually feels more narrow than the dome despite it probably being a few feet wider.

Before construction began, we were told that the concourses would be double the width of the Humpty Dump. That's disappointing.

Per the Vikings:

At Mall of America Field, the average concourse width was 24 feet. At U.S. Bank Stadium, all the concourses range from 32 to 50 feet wide, which promises to make the game day experience more enjoyable for fans

All I know is the beer lines and bathroom lines were ridiculous for the Luke Bryan concert there.. I expect some delays at big events of course, but not like what I dealt with.

It's gonna be a loud building for football and it is beautiful looking, but the concourses didn't seem nearly as big as I had anticipated.
