NFL 2014-15: Iron Fist Getting Rusty?

Lebron's drama of why the Refs aren't just making the other team bow before him will be the topic on the 15's. Every friday they'll switch things up, and Lebron will be the top of the hour, and Brady on the half hour.

Well, that's your own ****ed stupidity for watching ESPN.

Refs weigh the balls and then each set are kept by nfl neutral guys so unless the pats jumped the guy and took his uniform...complete non story. But haters like to grasp at straws. Not like the pats pumped in crowd noise or turned heat up in dome, right? ;)

Re: NFL 2014-15: Iron Fist Getting Rusty?

The game was lost in the first quarter. It could've - should've - been 21-0 after the first, and it would've been game over. Instead they couldn't get three more yards on the first two possessions and it allowed for a scenario where one TD from Seattle game them hope. What looks better? A fake field goal to make it 16-7, or a fake field goal to make it 24-7?

Of course, let us not forget falling down after picking the ball off with a clear lane to at least get into Seattle territory, if not return for a score.

It's been about six hours, and still I am disappoint.
In the 4th quarter is might appear that Rogers and Crosby were the only two Packers who did not get/did not read the memo that the season was to end in Seattle....others:dropped passes, bad routes, good routes where you don't turn around to catch the ball, having kicks hit you in the hands, then the face-mask, then not the hands again......

You forgot opening the vents on opposing FG's. :D

Well, it's not like he had anything to lose.

Few football plays are as exciting at the "Hail Mary 2pt conversion"
:p

It was an arse-whupping in the first half. I think I may have to agree that the fake punt is what turned the tide. After that...man. The Pack choked. Hard. The 2 point conversion....I was slack-jawed at how that happened. Wilson basically said "F it, I'm tossing it up for whoever."

That 2-pt conversion really was the kick in the nuts, because its very likely the Packers still get their field goal to win 22-19, but whatever...that sucked.

WEEI saying NFL investigating PATs for deflating game balls, are you kidding me. If true they should forfeit the game and let INDY play in SB.

How does it help you anyway, Brady gets better grip on wet ball? but then so does Luck. Kicker can't kick it as far?

Bill Belichick has probably had deflated balls for years now. ;)

Agree with all of this. You can definitely put me in the camp that thinks they should've went for it on both 4th downs (though I realize that's not exactly what you're arguing here). Such a John Fox move...

As far as the fake FG, is there any reason why the Packers wouldn't just not try and block the FG and just try and stop a fake attempt? Like, maybe go into a goal line pass defense instead of trying to block a FG that doesn't get them back into the game whatsoever even if they make it?

That's one where I think coaches could use to be a little more imaginative, but ultimately it was poorly executed as well.

As if there weren't Packer fans praying too.

Maybe Russel is the chosen one.

God didn't answer your prayers... the Packers did.

Two Canadians and an ex-CFLer played big roles in those plays and the onside kick recovery. Nice day for us! :D

Almost nine minutes into the third quarter and the Seahawks have yet to score, trailing 16-0 and lined up for a chip-shot field goal. Instead, (Jon) Ryan, who doubles as holder, took the snap and lobbed a 19-yard touchdown pass into the end zone to tackle eligible Garry Gilliam, a successful fake field goal that jumpstarts the Seahawks.

The Regina native and former Winnipeg Blue Bomber, feathered just the third pass of his NFL career (all completions), but his first for a touchdown. It still felt like the Seahawks were running uphill, but the important early points planted the seeds of the comeback.

Fast forward to the frenetic fourth quarter, a game taken over by Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.

After quarterback Russell Wilson scooted in for a one-yard touchdown run to trim the Packers lead to 19-14, the Seahawks were still in need of an on-side kick and recovery.

Enter the sure hands of former Winnipeg Blue Bomber Matthews, who seized the moment when Steven Hauschka’s kick doinked off the head of the Packers’ Brandon Bostick. (Chris) Matthews’ quick recovery gave the ball back to Wilson and the Seahawks offence, keeping the magic comeback on the rails.

After Lynch romped into the end zone on a 24-yard rumble to give the Seahawks their first lead of the game — 20-19 — Seattle coach Pete Carroll made the correct decision to go for two. A frenetic Wilson scramble allowed the other (Luke) Willson (the two ‘L’ Canadian version) to get open at the goal line then in to the end zone to open up the field-goal margin.

So you're saying the Packers also had deflated balls?

Re: NFL 2014-15: Iron Fist Getting Rusty?

Given this weekends games I wonder if the line will move to favoring New England now. It was assumed it would open around -7 for Seattle.
