New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

I'm tired of emailing support and whining on Twitter every weekend about problem with WCHA.TV.

Right now the audio is 10 plus seconds ahead of the video and all the players are "Wang-Chunging" during the play. And Benjimi is supposed to have the best broadcast..... 8-(
Watching the Tech/BG game from last night On Demand and the audio is just ahead of the video. Maybe one or two seconds. Not sure what it was live.

I'm sure, however, it's better than what it was watching live which, for most of the first period, was pretty much impossible. Stretch tried to blame it on our connection but speedtest.net has us at 59 Mbps which is much, much, much more than adequate.

The audio actually cut out completely towards the end of the first period.

there was a choppy audio issue at the end of the 1st and it did cut out completely...otherwise its been great in Houghton thus far for me.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

It was a student crew with the audio tonight for NMU. Normally, it's patched into the local radio feed.

I thought that Northern Michigan always had a good feed with good announcers. Sorry if I picked on them.

No audio on Alaska at Ferris state. Every darn weekend something is messed up, and the standard "Thanks for the email! We are aware of the issue you're describing and have reached out to the personnel on site to make them aware of the XXXXX problem. While we don't have an immediate resolution, we will remain in contact with them in a continued effort to remedy the issue."

Getting really old with problems every week.

I won't get off work until after the UAA-MTU game starts tomorrow. Does anyone know how long it takes Wcha TV to convert the live game to On demand?

As far as I can tell they have it up the next day. I have never seen a game go up the same night that it is played.

For on demand, does anyone else think it's a problem that watching a game on demand and the final score/state show up on the right side of the screen? The last 2 weekends I've tried to watch 2 games on demand, and both times, even when I try to avoid seeing anything, someone how the page loads different or whatever, but I see the final score. I don't watch sports when you know the ending, so it's especially annoying that wcha.tv shows the final score when I just want to watch a game on demand.

I COMPLETELY AGREE. It's a poor business move.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Noticed this tonight. I paid the Big 14 its $15 per month to get the all league monthly pass because I wanted to watch the GLI title game. This was better than paying the $10 for the monthly team pass. So far, I have been satisfied because the BTN+ is pretty good for the programming dollar, even if I have to watch god awful MSU and defense-challenge Michigan (and fashion and winning-challenged Tom Anastos).

Anyway, since I was thinking about catching the MTU-BG game tonight, I noticed that there is only a $8 single game and $10 "day pass" for WCHA.tv. Awful. How does WCHA not have at least the same deal as Big 14+? Or NCHC?

Most of the Big14+ broadcasts have been in-house arena feeds. At first I thought these would be terrible, but they have been pretty good. Wisky's is really good. MSU's is pretty good, despite how awful the team is. As expected, Michigan's camera angles at Yost are beyond awful. At least mgoblue.com shows a free game every once in a while.

One thing I like about UW's inhouse production is that they are very good with changing camera angles. Even though they'll move to non-traditional camera angles during play, they aren't much of a bother because they flow with the play very well, if you get what I am saying.

Also, note to the NCHC: Get off the god **** CBS SN tether. Nobody watches this network. If I want to pay you to watch these games via streaming, you should not be turning down my cold hard cash because of an "exclusive" agreement with a network nobody watches.

Get with the times already. I hate the Big 14 but they're ahead of the game when it comes to broadcasting college hockey.

There could be many reasons. For one, it's more expensive for a day pass in terms of customer acquisition and retention to get them for a game or weekend than it is for a month or season. Credit card fees are involved, and it's easier to plan for resources by the month or by the season as it is for a shorter timeframe. Also, the league just wants the base revenue (and I'm sure that the same goes for Stretch).

I do like the NCHC's month-by-month plan, which would be handy if you're going to end up with two games against Nacho opponents in a month. Shoot, you could split that up with fellow WCHA fans if you were enterprising.

Re: New WCHA TV - Will it be better then the last

Well, the season is drawing to a close and I believe the WCHA has failed again in it's attempts to broadcast WCHA hockey. I can't say it is worse than last year but it certianly is not any better. I watched the Bemidji / MTU game last night and it buffered every couple of minutes. I had to refresh numerous times throughout because the broadcast didn't restart after 30s or more. I just tried the same broadcast on demand and it does the same thing. Many have suggested that it has to do with the facility that is pumping out the broadcast. I would agree if it was just during the live version. I believe once it goes on demand it is all on Stretch Internet. I tried a couple of on demand BTN2GO hockey broadcasts just to compare and there is no comparison. No buffering, HD quality, awesome!
If I had to grade Stretch Internet and WCHA TV I would give them a D compared to other products I have watched this year. Just so nobody says it may be on my end, my download load speed as measured by Speedtest.net exceeds 50mbps.
As I have stated numerous times in the past, on several different forums, there are a lot of WCHA hockey fans that would love to watch the games but aren't going to spend the money for this inferior product. Many have watched once, gotten frustrated and never been back.
Cheap is not the way to go if you are serious about your product. Maybe they need to copy what the BIG boys do. I would pay a little more for a reliable product, but will struggle buying a season package next year if Stretch is involved.
I have emailed the WCHA again this year about my feelings. Like last year I have gotten no response.
