Even for a fan base as surly as UND's, certainly even they can see the humor in a goodwill effort fronted by a guy with the last name that sounds like Hitlers right hand man to replace a nickname that was extorted with the considerable wallet of a noted Nazi sympathizer.

North Dakota "Fighting Litigators" has a nice ring to it.

Wear 3 piece suits and change the Ralph's name to "The Courtroom". Older fans can shout "Sioux their ***!" before the puck drops.

Also-- lawyer jokes. I think everybody will be quite happy.

Just out of curiosity I'd like to know how much you've spent in monetary donations, counseling, or any other form to help native Americans. More specifically those affected by "hostile and abusive" monikers? Nothing? Didn't think so but I'm sure they reeeeeeeally appreciate you using them as a soap box in Internet forums, dirtbag.

Well, we know how they feel about being used as a mascot, don't we.

I'm guessing they'd appreciate my so-called soap box activities moreso than the UND knuckledraggers efforts to keep it.

They obviously should go with the Flying Moths. Since Schlossyboy had nothing else to write about in a game in October he wrote how the goalie saved a moth in the rink.

I fail to see how that is a fair trade. Schloss actually writes his own articles, is younger than Yoda, rather than being senile has over 90% of his cognizant abilities and other than butthurt opposing fans, is liked.

Everyone besides opposing fanbases seem to like him and opposing fanbases would dislike whomever writes about UND, so they can pretty much be discounted. On the other hand few people like Reusse and no one, probably including his family, likes Sid.

Knuckledragging goofer fans still can't tell the difference between a nickname and a mascot. You can keep guessing because you would be wrong. If you went and talked to the Native American population at Standing Rock and Spirit Lake you would have seen that the majority would be in favor of keeping the nickname. Unfortunately in this day and age, vocal minorities some times have more pull than they should.

Keep generalizing. I was for the Sioux name, given the situation. Charlie His Horse Farts Thunder or whatever his name is can kiss my arse.

By the way, I'm impressed that we've gone this far without anyone suggesting a Fighting Engelstads nickname with a logo of Ralph dressed in Third Reich memorabilia. (Or gone the other way and suggested the Fighting Jioux)

And now I'm embarrassed that I've gone and done just that.
