New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

Re: New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

It would be cool if the name grew organically but the way our country is they will force feed a crappy name nobody cares about or associates it with North
Dokota.

Let's hope not. People are likely to forget that it is the program associated with the name that brings value to the name, not the other way around. There's not much that is desirable about a gopher, but it works well because it's a associated with a good school with a long tradition (and it is native).

Well, not so fast. In truth, a gopher is a pitiful, vile, and loathsome creature which ought never to be seen above ground and which only a desperate loser of a school with no other options would use as its name and mascot unless it was deliberately trying to make itself a laughing stock.

So ignore that first part.

The good thing is that everyone on uscho can agree that NoDak is irrelevant. Why talk about them? It's not like they brought happy out of retirement or anything.

Let's try to practice a little thread discipline here.

As much as we'd all like to discuss the cuddly, head spinning Goldy Gopher, this thread is, indeed, about UND.

And for the record, you're a two-time laughingstock when you sell-out to Ralph Englestad for a shiny new arena at the expense of your better judgement and then undertake a nationwide Sense and Sensibility Tour when you later roll-over for the NCAA.

Man, you seem to have an obsession with what UND does. Does someone need a restraining order filed against him? Sheesh.

Re: New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

Um.....the 2nd post in this thread, thankyouverymuch:

that might mean its the winner.

I like Prairie Fire. it ties in geographically. fire can be elemental, quick moving, destructive, creative, native american connotations (but not too much). lots of cool logos could come from it. flames and what not. you'll go through some of what the Colorado Avalanche did - avalanches kill people, they are bad, they destroy stuff - but I like it. and it (swallows hard as I choke out a compliment) ties in with North Dakota's history as a tough, gritty, no nonsense, fighting, winning program. I need to go lay down now.

Can we call them "flamers" then?

Re: New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

From what I've seen here in Denver, let's call them the Fighting Fat Chicks. At least then you'll have thousands of mascots at every game.

:D

With Olive Garden in Grand Forks they will continuously have loads of replacements.

Re: New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

Ah, ****. Thread had lots of good humor and wit. But, trivialized and marginalized. Such is the way of USCHO fan forums. NO prob to me. Thx all.

Re: New UND name to replace Fighting Sioux

You clowns have Al Franken. Enough said.

At the risk of running this thread over to café, I'll defend Minnesotans for Al Franken. Michelle Bachman . . . no.

But there you go: religion and politics.

Both are clowns, but as a moderate conservative.....Bachman is farking nuts. I wish she'd disappear.
