Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

I have to admit, as a former sports gambler (well, officially), as soon as the word "parlay" surfaced, I was thinking NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. ;)

New Hobbit trailer...

Wish I could forget how much the first one sucked so I could get excited about this. It looks nice.

I just saw The Hobbit movie, and it's not nearly as bad as you've been describing it. The bits focused upon Radaghast were pretty bad, but the rest of the move reminded me of the War of the Rings movies while still keeping the lighter feel of The Hobbit book.

Don't believe yourself.

It was terrible.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Silver Linings Playbook was great...except for the fact that Bradley Cooper is somehow perfectly ok at the end. It is a testament to how amazingly perfect his performance was early on in the film that it would be completely unbelievable he would be normal by the end.

The Hobbit sucked, half of it was unneeded. (and boring) There was no need for it to draw out as long as it did...but at least the trailer for the second one makes it look like something might actually happen!

I normally would agree with the Cooper theory, but meds. Meds, man. :)

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

As someone who knows a thing or two about being bipolar and the effect of meds, I call BS. Not in that short amount of time and not without some side effects.

Other than that the movie is awesome :)

Help:

Looking for suggestions for good haloween movies for a Halloween party this weekend. Looking for about 4 movies. Two front runners are:

Shaun of the dead (fun), Phantasm (campy)

Others?

True creepy: Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity (NOT the sequels), Halloween (same criteria).

Old school: Night Of The Living Dead (original).

Satirical: Cabin In The Woods, Scream.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

True creepy: Blair Witch

You serious? I laughed my a55 off the entire movie.

A brief dialogue summary :D

Victim 1: "Eff You! You lost the EFFING map, by the EFFING lake, in the EFFING woods! EFF!"
Victim 2: "Go EFF Yourself!"
Victim 3: "WILL YOU TWO EFFERS SHUT THE EFF UP!?"

Also, Student Bodies was better satire than Scream.

I thought Blair Witch was creepy, yes. I camped out in the middle of nowhere quite often as a kid/teen, and when you hear noises like they did, and don't know what or where it is...it's creepy. Completely identified with the slight panic.

Also, Tucker/Dale rule.

Cabin In The Woods isn't a bad one, either.

I didn't laugh because I thought the whole thing was pretty lame. My eyes hurt after that movie from rolling them too much.

The Boondock Saints

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. Didn't expect the camp, though certainly there were laughs, particularly Willem Dafoe's gay David Caruso impression. Ultimately, this just did not hit it out of the park for me, like I'd hoped.

You should be beaten with potatoes for saying that!!

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Finally got around to Iron Man 3 and Pacific Rim (and The Heat, but that's just because Mrs EoDS has a thing for the kinds of comedies that look like the actors enjoyed themselves in).

Went into each with B- expectations and enjoyed them both immensely. Pacific Rim was a little clunky, scriptwise (certain parts felt too much like an Emmerich movie), but it was a lot of fun. As someone who doesn't know or care too much for Iron Man's rogues gallery, I loved the twist with The Mandarin, but I could see why Iron Man fanboys might have hated it.

Joyeux Noel

*heavvvvvvvvvvy exhale* Amazing. Simply, amazing.

I'm slightly optimistic.

I believe that the extended edition of the first movie is out today.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

This is the End

Parts of it were ridiculously funny but the middle dragged quite a bit.

Thought they missed an opportunity for funny individual deaths by having so many go in the same way.

Oh well. Good, not great.
