The Odds

Murder mystery involving underground teenage gambling. It's basically an after-school special. Yawner.

Also topped 1000 movies rated on Netflix. Yes, I've watched all of them, minus about half a dozen crapfests I turned off halfway through.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Since you guys are watching all of these old classics...

Recently watched the seven Hope & Crosby "Road" movies. Road to Morocco and Road to Utopia were my favorites. If you like a little song and dance thrown in and some good one-liners, all seven are fun to watch. Not for everybody of course, but enjoyable diversions never-the-less.

Road to Singapore (1940)
Road to Zanzibar (1941)
Road to Morocco (1942)
Road to Utopia (1946)
Road to Rio (1947)
Road to Bali (1952)
The Road to Hong Kong (1962)

Checked The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection out from the local library. 7 disc set (2005 New Line Entertainment) that I'm not very far into. Haven't watched that much Lloyd before--I think he's great. Like him as much as Keaton, Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy, etc. And apparently, unlike others, he transitioned well into "talkies."

Star Trek - Into Darkness

Just watched.

Loved. Every. Minute.

Wish there was going to be more than just one more. The chemistry amongst the crew(cast) is really good and the banter is hilarious.

I'm excited to see Star Wars in Abrams' hands.

Have that on my coffee table right now from Netflix. Gonna watch it tomorrow. I'm kinda excited.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Watched Safety Not Guaranteed tonight. I know someone mentioned it a while back. Can't remember who and didn't see it within a few pages back. I thought it was pretty good. I thought they did the whole "wanting to live in the past when you thought things were better" storyline very well (and there was more than one of those storylines). I did find myself wanting to know more after the end, though I do concede that knowing more could actually make the movie not as good. A few plot points felt forced but overall I'd say it was above average.

Planning to also watch that tomorrow.

Looking for suggestions on Netflix instant movies (or stuff that is free on Amazon Prime...free if you have the prime account...some stuff you still pay extra for, or Crackle or whatever) that I should look at. Especially independent or lesser known stuff (like the Safety Not Guaranteed I mentioned in my previous post).

And speaking of Crackle...I know its not a movie but watch Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee series. Hilarious.

Netflix streaming I have watched in recent history (and have liked, mind you):

Dogs Of War
Mafioso
Cabin In The Woods
The Hunting Party
Day Of The Falcon
4 Assassins
Ghost Dog
The Hit List
Tucker And Dale Vs Evil
The Sicilian Girl
The Experiment
Croupier
The Red Violin

That should give you a good start. :)

Just watched it. I think that's a spot-on assessment, although I wish they left the end of the movie as a cliffhanger, rather than actually answer the question posed in the main plot.

Brick:

This gripping 4 hour long epic is quite.....wait, huh? It's less than two hours long, and I apparently only got through half of it? That's strange.

Yeah, it's crap. I probably spent 2 hours too long, I mean 30 minutes, watching it.

Just finished it. What a fun *ing movie. And my favorite casting choice is still Scotty (Pegg). He absolutely nails the role.

Chrome And Hot Leather

An army guy's fiancee is killed by a biker gang, he goes undercover to get revenge.

Awesomely horribly good. I will knock off some points for only teasing at the gratuitous topless scene, as that is a necessary cliched element in these types of movies. Other than that? I am looking forward to more of the genre of "biker movies."

Also, this is a movie that wasn't trying to be bad, it just was bad (made in the 70's, low-budget, etc). Hence the unintentional comedy factor.

Edit: ha! Gabe in this movie was also the strip club boss in Kill Bill Vol 2! Hilarity!

Watching "Robocroc" on SyFy. You know a movie is bad when it's not even on IMDB.
