Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

That is fair...of course technically Superman/Batman is not going to be a "serious" film since it is about dudes in tights saving the world and all that :D

I feel that taking this role is a step back for him.

You are not alone...when I read it last night I thought it was a joke because I didnt see why he wanted the part. The guy is the toast of Hollywood right now. The WB must have made him an offer he couldnt refuse. (Nolan got full creative control and his choice of non Batman projects) Methinks Affleck has a few movies he wants greenlit and gets first crack at directing himself in the Batman reboot post Justice League.

They have already made too many Batman movies. So hopefully this one fails and they stop.

Dear Mr. President. There are too many states nowadays. Please eliminate three. I am not a crackpot!

:p

I can dump 2 easily: Connchusetts Island. Boom. Done. Thank you, have a nice day.

Interesting. If I had to pick 3 states to eliminate (and the peoples within) I'd go with: California, Utah, and New York.
Wait, we're talking about actually getting rid of the people too? Not just combining existing states to get down to 47? In that case: California, New York, Illinois.

how can Texas not be on a list of states to get rid of? I'd probably get rid of Texas, Kansas (any state that produces the Westboro Baptist Church isn't worth keeping around), and some random southern state (probably Alabama or Mississippi). Despite the crazy beliefs of the mormons, I really like Utah. The mountains great, and so close to downtown SLC. California has Yosemite, Redwood National Park, Sequoia National Park (and over 20 other national parks), Sonoma Valley, San Francisco, and a bunch of other cool places. Maybe you can chop everything off south of Ventura and north of San Diego and west of the San Bernardino Mountains.

I don't much care for Mississippi and Alabama (except for Huntsville, they seem nice and educated there), but I like Texas, I couldn't dump Texas.

Huntsville sure is a monument to the military-industrial complex. Had to go there back when I was working on a research project for the US Army.

Austin's okay I guess... the rest of Texas, meh.

Re: New/Rented Movies: Insert Random Retread Of A Plot

Yeah, c'mon guys get back to movies that Scarlet wants to read about and comment on! ;)

Fine. GI Joe: Retaliation

Ghost Shark was more believable.

BUT, I thoroughly enjoyed it, minus one major event involving a major character (dunno if the comics/etc have this or not; I only watched the cartoons, and this broke a major rule).
--I think Tom Sizemore, if younger, would have been a better Firefly. Heck, even at his age, I think it would have been better. Can't argue with Ray Stevenson (Kill The Irishman) though.
--Walter Goggins as the warden...classic. Great job for the part he was given.
--The zipline scene? Awesome. Pure eye candy, love it.
--The North Korea jabs, also great.
--So happy RZA has yet another role. He's getting his chops in movies/shows, and you can see him grow as an actor.

We saw In A World... yesterday evening. Written and directed by and starring Lake Bell, who I knew from How To Make It In America, but others might remember from Boston Legal, What Happens In Vegas, or No Strings Attached. Amusing romantic comedy about voice-over actors vying to be chosen by a movie studio to revive the late Don LaFontaine's famous catch phrase. Nicely recognizes the real-world LaFontaine's legacy with in-character tributes by many of the characters in the movie. Good supporting cast including Demetri Martin, Nick Offerman, Rob Corddry, Michaela Watkins, Fred Melamed, Ken Marino, Jeff Garlin and Geena Davis. Still in pretty limited release I think, but worth a look if you can find it.

Aftershock

I follow Eli Roth on the Tweeter Machine, and he was getting a lot of buzz for this movie. It's all kinds of *ed up. A bit of everything: disaster, realism, gore, drama, suspense, comedy, B-movie lines, genuine quality. I'll say this: unless you have seen a few movies like this, you won't know what the heck to expect. I really liked it, though, despite it not being a movie I'd normally seek out.

Some tourists are partying it up in Chile, and an earthquake hits. Let the survival quest begin. Have fun, kids!
