This is great news. Hockey East has a mobile scoreboard that is updated regularly. Also, www.collegehockeystats.net comes in pretty good on my blackberry for game box scores once the games are final. Loads faster then USCHO's scoreboard and has better box scores.

I think those abbreviations match the ones you used to see at ESPN - so if they're getting it from there - Pointstreak's will be garbage. ... CHStats has good stuff, and they are where a lot of this stuff originates from ... Looks like CHN is just trying to be one-stop shopping, with added bells and whistles.

As best as I can figure, they're assuming it is Northern Michigan College and Michigan College of Technology. Western Michigan is also Western Michigan College.

What a slap in the face to these accredited Universities. :mad:

They really do need to improve the abbreviations. North Dakota is NOR and Anchorage is ALA. UND/NDK and UAA are both available and should be used instead. Why overly complicate it when the schools official names are three words?

I don't want to take this in this particular direction, but this looks like something that was outsourced to a group of people that either have no idea what they're doing, or they just did a really half-assed job.

Remember, this is just a beta testing, it launched today. It will get better quickly here...

The main reason we launched this as a "soft launch" is because the data from
AHA and ECAC arenas is not yet 100% reliable ... that should be here
by next week though

I got lucky and found them, I actually never would've thought of those abbreviations. Maybe at work tonight I'll give the livescoring a try. If I can remember the abbreviations, lol.

If I had to guess, I'd guess half-assers and ham-n-eggers just trying to collect a paycheck!

They're taking the abbreviation for Michigan to be MC. Which is pretty dumb. I bet they think New Mexico isn't a part of the US too.

Yeah, let's complain about something that fans have been begging for, and likely took a ton of work to set up.

Anyway, first game is live, and looks good on CHN (although the audio webcast links for home and away both send you to LSSU). CHInc, nothing...

Like I said before, I'm sure it's a work in progress, and if it takes a few weeks to half the season to make perfect, it's still one of the best things to happen to "college hockey" in a long time.

I'm not knocking it, it's a LOT better than trying to skim through the score updates forum for scores.


(I only thought the ease of Radio / TV icons respective of each team would be easier)


*edit* Oooooooh. TV channel listings for DirecTV/Dish...
CHN is definitely a top spot to check for scores quick with these updates.

I notice that pointstreak has the score of the Notre Dame/Holy Cross game live and CHN still shows no data for that game.

I wonder if that is because of the venue of the icebreaker?
