New Hampshire vs. Maine: Feb 4/5

Re: New Hampshire vs. Maine: Feb 4/5

The description is priceless:

Besides a larger, Olympic-size ice surface, New Hampshire's rink has an expansive memorabilia display, including a gallery of every UNH team since the 1920s and a display case of the Wildcats' championship trophies. :D

Oh man. I didn't even see the slideshow. That is funny.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Maine: Feb 4/5

Friday was the first time I'd seen Martin Ouellette play. I was impressed with his size and style. He's just a kid fresh out of prep school and seems to have a lot of potential.

who knows if he'll stick around. It won't be the first time a goalie has gotten ****ed of at Timmay and left.

Come on! The last time I was there I noticed a line 200 deep of fans waiting to get their picture taken with the 2001 "Festival of Lights" Holiday championship tournament trophy. Give them a break. :)

Still pathetic here.... WHERE IS THE TALK ABOUT THE GAMES THIS PAST WEEKEND???? The talk of "sucks" just is a smokescreen to deflect away from what is going on with the rivalry. UNH is 10-3-0 in the last 13 and 14-5-0 in the last 19 vs Maine.

quality post. As you continue your downward spiral towards LSSU and then Michigan Tech status, we'll continue to compete and hopefully some day win a title, but we already know the most competitive days of this rivalry are in our rear view mirror.

And when I was at Maine we were 22-2-1 against UHN in the last 25 games. The Wildcats weren't even a rival in those days, just six easy points in Hockey East. Congrats on finally winning a few games.

That said, these games were a week ago. Time to move on.

And how was BC's record against BU in the Crockpot?

Fail post.

Umm, BC has won three straight vs. BU in the 'pot. Their record is uptrending vs. BU in that tourney. Maine's is downtrending vs. everyone, including UConn

Way to miss the point. Used to be BC couldn't get a sniff against BU in the Crockpot. Times change.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Maine: Feb 4/5

Walrus, you've never walked around Alfond in a UNH jersey, and none of us have ever walked around the Whitt in a Maine jersey. All of these incidents are isolated to one or two people being jerks to fans of other teams, I have never seen a UNH fan say anything to a visiting fan, but I don't doubt it happens....
It's also less of a problem when actually waking around the Alfond. The brunt of it occurs in the visitors' sections under the balcony.

And who could forget...Mike Ayers' mom, [who] enjoyed assaulting visiting fans?
Wow, she took a swing at one jack*, and now she's "notorious" and apparently assaulted numerous visiting fans. Bear in mind, we only ever really heard the jack*'s story. But I'm sure he told it exactly as it happened.

I've said it before, but this point needs reiteration. UMass has the worst, most obnoxious, rude, uncreative fans I've ever witnessed.
I don't think many (if any) would argue this point.

When did I say she assaulted "numerous" fans? I said her and Preston's gf "enjoyed assaulting visiting fans." Unless you disagree that they enjoyed doing what they did, then the statement is still 100% true and doesn't indicate they are repeat offenders (although I wouldn't be surprised).

As far as the story about Mrs. Ayers is concerned, it seemed to be pretty much widely accepted as true when the entire UML crew confirmed it happened and I have no reason to doubt them.

But you can deny it happened or spin it as you would like or take issues with the way things were worded if it makes you feel better.

Move along Nick Papahockydad. Nothing that concerns you here......

...and you missed my point. My point was UML, MC, etc couldn't beat Maine if their lives depended on it. It will be the other way around going forward for many of the teams they enjoyed success over...

Mrs. Ayers = easily shaken

Times change. That's been said.

Fortunately, BC is immune from that. The BC athletic department has great recent history with coaches, so when Jerry York retires there is absolutely no chance of hiring another Steve Cedorchuk. If there's one thing we've seen in college hockey, it's that top teams like Minnesota and Michigan State always stay on top.

Re: New Hampshire vs. Maine: Feb 4/5

"Maine Sucks", A new one "M-A-I-N-E, Youuuuuu Suck!" etc.

1. There is no separate "Maine Sucks" chant.
2. The latter is "M-A-I-N-E, Maine Sucks." It is a spoof on your "Go Blue" chant. We also spoof your penalty chant.

AND I had to laugh when I see the scoreboard encouraging fans to be loud! That is embarrassing!

That one bothers me, because it teaches people to wait for prompts. Celtics games are like this too, with the ridiculous noise meter.

I'm sure Lake State though otherwise, but I do agree that when Jerry retires, there will be a lot of extremely qualified people begging to take that job. Since you are piped into UMaine's program much more than I am, did Maine ever really try and make a run at Dean Blais or Jeff Jackson?
