Neumann censured by NCAA

Re: Neumann censured by NCAA

I haven't researched their roster but it would absolutely suck if you were a CDN and were told that if you wanted to remain on the roster, the "deal" that we promised you is no longer available and you will have to pay full fare. The grant program is discontinued so your cost of education has gone way up. The student-athletes are getting the bums rush in this instance.
In the past when this has come up, the student athletes had the option to continue receiving the financial aid if they dropped the varsity sport. Obviously not a great option, but for a student close to a degree who doesn't wish to transfer nor incur an additional financial hardship, at least that choice existed. Doesn't seem to apply here if the program has been discontinued. However, I agree, with most of these rulings, it is the student athletes that get the short end.

Re: Neumann censured by NCAA

"Since Neumann discontinued the grant program in October 2010, no current athletes at Neumann have received grants during this academic year. Therefore, the Neumann men’s and women’s hockey teams appear to be fully eligible for league and NCAA playoffs this season."

Darn, Here I was thinking we were heading down the road of Chatham making the playoffs by default. :D

There have been various conflicting postings WRT post season eligibility for both Neumann and Potsdam. Then there is also Buff State, has their sanction been completed ?.

Who knows the whole deal:??????

Is Buff State eligible ? (as their sanction may have been served)
Is Neumann eligible ? (as none of their current athletes are receiving the grant this year ?)
And if the above is true for Neumann, why is Potsdam not eligible this year ?. Did they not lose players, since they are no longer providing the grant this year ?.

ECAC West....Sounds more like Wild West to me :D

Chatham got dinged for similar "infractions" after Buff State but before Potsdam/Neumann so don't know what their status is either.

Re: Neumann censured by NCAA

Potsdam is absolutely ineligible this year.

Neumann is eligible this year.

Buffalo State is eligible this year.
