Nescac '12-'13

For the upcoming NESCAC semifinals, the host institution (Bowdoin) can choose the order of the games. I am surprised that Bowdoin elected to play in the late game giving them fewer hours for their players, assuming they win, to recover for the Sunday final.
Check the handbook, but it may be a conference rule to boost attendance in the other game.

NIce touch by Bill Beaney on Saturday holding the bus for a couple of hours so the players could support the basketball team in the NESCAC semifinal game against Williams.

NESCAC CHAMPIONSHIP

I'm looking forward to a great championship weekend in Brunswick, Maine. Some quick thoughts:

1. In my opinion Bowdoin and Middlebury are the two most talented teams in the league.
2. The previous comment doesn't imply that either the Polar Bears on the Panthers will definitely win the championship. Talent alone is not sufficient, and both Williams and Trinity have been playing solid hockey.
3. I believe Bowdoin will be done in by the Polar Bears' bad habit of taking bad penalties followed by stupid penalties followed by moronic penalties followed by untimely penalties...
4. Trinity is not an interesting team to watch, but it's an efficient team. Matt Greason has done a tremendous job with talent that is quite average. I wouldn't be surprised if Trinity won it all.

Good luck to all the players, coaches, families and fans. The NESCAC championship weekend is Divison III hockey at its best.

Amen on the penalties.

You didn't read it before spouting off. It says it won't happen.

I missed the smilie face to joecct ....I read the article and its very in depth. Nice job. The way the committee has gone so far WHO KNOWS what they will do this year. Sometimes they weigh SOS greater, some they've weighed RNK higher, some they've ranked COP righer....I dont get it.

Re: Nescac '12-'13

I'd like to read the article, but the link doesn't work for me. Also when I tried to go to the nescachockey.com home page that I've gone to before, I'm ending up somewhere else as well.

Not sure what to tell you. They're working for me. Maybe its because you're on the wrong side of the lake.....(which you'll get if you ever get to read the article).

I guess the Bowdoin tennis team didn't get the message from what happened to the hockey team a couple years back?

BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — Bowdoin College's nationally-ranked men's tennis team will forfeit its next four matches and won't be allowed to participate in postseason play for what school officials call a hazing incident.
The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/ZDryr2 ) reports the sanctions were announced Wednesday in a letter from Dean of Student Affairs Tim Foster and athletic director Tim Ryan. Details of the hazing were not released.
They said no one was put in physical danger and blamed the incident on "poor judgment."
Foster and Ryan wrote that the matter was brought to their attention by a student not affiliated with the team. After interviewing team members they found the school's "well-articulated and frequently explained policy that prohibits hazing" was violated.
The Division III Polar Bears are ranked sixth in the country with a 9-2 record.

The rule was explained, the precedent was set with the hockey team. Ignorance is ot a excuse. These athletes have nobody to blame but themselves...
