NCHC says no to Minnesota State and Arizona State

Re: NCHC says no to Minnesota State and Arizona State

If Miami and WMU wanted to leave the NCHC, their only realistic league options would be to join the WCHA or join a re-established CCHA (which would consist of BG and many of the current WCHA teams). If the CCHA became a conference again, that very well could mean the end of the WCHA.

While from a pizzazz standpoint, a reformed CCHA would be even less exciting than the current WCHA...the one thing it would do is put the remaining current WCHA schools in the west on ice. There is a decent chance that the NCHC would need to add several schools to get back to where it was - probably MSU and BSU (with MTU having what it would probably consider a less savory option of looking east). In this scenario, the Alaska schools and AHA would find really tough sledding.

Just another shining example of the NCHC looking out for what is best for college hockey

And now Mankato State is like the spouse who was fooling around and planned to leave for the new love, but now has to ask for love and forgiveness from its mate. Even though she she knows it will happen again in a heartbeat if the chance is there.

Well...every good league needs a villain. Maybe we fit that bill now.

Very true. At least the Mavs get to start at home rather than traveling to Houghton. The great fans in the UP would be relentless.

What makes you think there won't be some of us in Mankato to bring it up? ;D

Mavs are in for a world of hurt... Parise knows how intimidating those techie fans are to opposing fan bases.

Nope. You're short an accent, car, monocle, and white, long-haired cat.

Are you kidding? Have you ever heard a cow trying to talk? They have a hell of an accent (something about the "oooo" sound all the time).

While it may not be a car, he rides his 4-wheeler all over the place.http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000i39EOHhq7vM/s/600/600/2013110823-12-4536.jpg

He has a family of white cats he takes care of.http://mankatotimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Stomper.jpg

Admittedly, he doesn't wear a monocle, but I'll be ****ed if he doesn't always get the girl when he wears his bad boy black uni. http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.town...5fc-87e5-3f0c64b603ef/5732009de1808.image.jpg

We're working on it. I'll work with Stomper on the finer villainous details.

Re: NCHC says no to Minnesota State and Arizona State

My guess: If the NCHC takes ASU and MSUM and then the Alaskas disappear, do WMU and Miami bolt back to the WCHA? They'd get way better travel.

Instead, let the Alaska situation sort itself out and let ASU come up with something more than a vaporena* to play in.

* vaporena: An arena claimed or planned but that does not exist at this time. Similar to term "vaporware" in the software realm meaning software that we're working on but don't have yet.

Couldn't they just play where the Coyotes play, or even where the Suns play. Wouldn't that work, just fine?

ASU will play at Gila River Arena (Coyotes) for four games this year. AEG takes over the building from the Coyotes after this season, so I'm not sure what the plans will be next season.

For the long term solution, it seemed momentum was for the Coyotes to build their new Arena on ASUs campus. Those plans seemed to change and it sounds like Scottsdale is where the Coyotes will be. I believe ASUs focus is now on building a midsize hockey venue on campus. But nothing official has been announced, thus the skepticism around the program.

Gila Is not a great option as it is just too big and even a decent crowd will look and feel terrible. The makeshift Oceanside facility, while there were nice improvements, is not NCAA quality. So right now, neither option is great. So hopefully the on campus venue comes to fruition soon.

True, guy with one post.

All 700 fans in the MacInnes would rain boos down upon the now-hated Purple Cows of Mankato State. The players would need years of psychological treatment after the sadistic tauntings of the diabolical Tech fans warped their cerebral cortex. If the Mavericks players were somehow able to make it through the game, the bus back to Mankato would just be filled with bawling, quivering young men clutching blankies and calling out for their mommies to come hold them. The bus would reek of human waste as the Mavs' brains would be so addled, they no longer even have the capacity to use the bathroom. Coach Hastings would have to completely overhaul the entire program, if not discontinue it altogether, after all the Mavs have been rendered totally useless as hockey players.

Thank God the Mavs get to start at home. Thank God, indeed.

You westerners and your sense of humor.
It's great - keeps the summer interesting while half of you fall apart.
