NCHA 2013-14 Season

Yes, some other D3 schools have JV programs. SNC for instance. They play a mix of other D3 JV programs and ACHA D2 teams.

Elmira has had a JV program ever since I started following them in the early 90's. I want to say they might have played some lower prep schools and junior teans too but I could be completely wrong on that.

Tri City Eagles looks like a serious program.

I don't have a problem with some schools fielding JV squads. If it lets more students on campus feel connected to the program and allows some kids straight out of high school hockey to continue playing, what's the problem? Sure, 99% of them will never matriculate to the Varsity program, but every once in a while one does.

Schools can also justify paying a full time assistant coach for the Varsity squad if their duties also include coaching the JV team. Full time paid assistants is huge for D3 Varsity programs...
