NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

But it is true that the pairing of Dartmouth with Cornell and UMD with Wisconsin represents the biggest money-saving move at the expense of Bracket integrity in the history of this sport. Dartmouth and UMD were miles apart in RPI. There's nothing close to this that's every happened before. (including sending Harvard to Wisconsin in 2007, or Wisconsin to Minnesota in 2008.)
Based on the bracket the committee selected, I can only imagine what we'd have seen if the results of the ECAC and HEA tournament finals had been reversed, with Dartmouth and Northeastern winning. Minnesota would have been sent to Wisconsin, Dartmouth to Cornell, Northeastern to BU, and MC to BC. Bracket integrity spelled "$-$-$-$".

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

I really can't see what happened to UMD and UW as anything other than an attempt by the NC$$ to increase the chances of a non-WCHA team winning the Frozen Four by bracket manipulation, objectivity in the selection process be ****ed. Go Badgers, and if not the Badgers, then UMD to kick it back in the the NC$$'s face.

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

It's clear the ideal bracket this year, using the NCAA's rankings, would have involved 4 flights. I wonder if things fell so that it was a 3-flight bracket, they would have gone with it (like the one where BC played at BU).

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

I don't buy any conspiracy theories -- if coaches really want to avoid intraconference quarterfinals or balance two sides of the bracket, that needs to be legislated within the NCAA.

There is one other theory that I hadn't considered. Wisco may have beaten Dartmouth in the range of 12-15 to 0 setting a new NCAA Tournamnet record and possibly embarrassing Dartmouth so badly that they may have dropped women's hockey altogehter. Instead Dartmouth will play a number 2 seed that they beat once already, so maybe it is all just a sensativity to the less fortunate :-)

Don't you think it's time to get over yourself and let the athletes play the games? Your sanctimonious comments are getting old, and every time I move to a new thread to get away, there you are, spreading more joy:eek:. Have you been to the Brown thread lately:p

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

This is so disrepectful to the Dartmouth team. Instead of being a classy front runner you choose to be a jerk. Hard to believe that all of this bullsh*t is coming from a Wisconsin player's Grandfather. You are such an assh*le. Crawl back into your basemant in Wisconsin and stick your pins in your NCAA doll. Your granddaughter's team now has Yankee status.... Yes your team is good but Everyone is rooting for whoever is playing against them. I hope they cough up a hairball and lose but judging your previous posts it will be someone elses fault.......

GO ALL 7 OTHER TEAMS IN THE NCAA'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can tell you this UCONN and DC78-82, those comments above don't reflect the true character of a lot of the UW players. And hey, I'm rooting against them this weekend. It's unfortunate to read stuff like that when UW and the players have always been a class act. The Bulldogs know it, as does the rest of the conference. I hope you can feel similarly should your teams meet them in action.

My comments were posted Sunday evening a 3 hours after the brackets were announced. AS I mentioned I sought counseling and as long as I stay on my prescription they tell me I should be fine. My post here was mean spirited and I apologize. That said, you are really the one bringing it back to the forefront two days later. I hope you will accept my apology and best of luck to all the girls.

I don't have a granddaughter playing and I live in Florida this time of year, so I have no basement to crawl into. I am actually from Chicago and have connections to many players in the WCHA. I am a bit confused by your assault, where have I ever placed blame on anyone else? All three of my teams are good, but now only one can make it the finals. Based on comments from Mark Johnson and Brad Frost they seemed as puzzled but the NCAA's decisions as I am. So, I apologized above and I believe I have moved on.

Granddaddyscout stands alone. I'm sure nobody is blaming the UW team or the rest of their fans for the comments of this jerk. Maybe he will be served a piece of humble pie.

I think you need to see my shrink for your anger issues, perhaps Mr Campbell and I can split the bill. Good luck, who is your team by the way

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

Anger, not so much. Hatred, for sure!!!!!!!!!!! For you and Colin.

And I'm not surprised you have a shrink. Maybe he can convince you to step out of the basement.

Re: NCAA Selection Announcements, March 6, 6:30 ET

I think we ought to just wait for the games to be played and see what happens. :)

Clearly Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth and Wisco got screwed. The announcement of the bracket was surprising especially to those of us in the East. Not sure how BU and BC both got home games and Darty draws Cornell. The WCHA had 2 members on the committee but here lies the rub:
Format: The top four teams according to the selection criteria will be seeded 1–4. The remaining four teams will be placed in the bracket based on relative strength as long as these pairings do not result in additional flights. All rounds are single elimination

Just another example of the NCAA doing as little as possible for women's sports. This would NEVER happen on the men's side. GO Minnesota-Duluth!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't feel like Minnesota got screwed. The committee has been pretty good to us over the years. Sure, we didn't want to draw Wisconsin in 2008, a team that was one of the country's best at year's end, but it wasn't the committee's fault that they started slow and were undervalued. Minnesota this season is a little like Wisconsin was then -- some positive results, but a bunch of negatives as well. So we travel; that might wind up being good for us. If we can't win in Boston, then I doubt we'd win in Erie either. Anytime you're not #1 or #2, you have to plan on beating both of them to win it all. At least Minnesota doesn't see either of them before the Frozen Four.

Re: Cool Blog Item

We here in Boston did NOT need to be reminded yet again of the Flyers coming back from a 3-0 deficit, LOL, but yeah, great article once I got past that part!
