NCAA Regional Rankings 2/16

Re: NCAA Regional Rankings 2/16

Well, Wentworth has the third best record in the East. The team cannot control how well other teams perform. Teams in the East with records like 10-9-2, 12-8-2, and 13-8-3 made the top 15. Just seems more weight should be given to how the team does on the ice.

Do a forum search for "Adrian" for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Overall though, no real complaints, one last observation is that Elmira is in a lot more trouble than I/we previously thought. They have zero room for error as the committee has Manhattanville right on their heals. Regardless of what happens this weekend, I think the committee just set it up for the winner of the ECAC West tourney to get the Pool B and the only ticket from the ECAC West.

If Elmira sweeps Manhattanville this weekend and then loses to the Valiants in the ECAC West finals there is no way M'ville gets in over Elmira.

It's either take both or only Elmira.

Elmira would have stronger SOS and dominate head to head.

Alas, you are a victim of your conference, as joeyc3402 noted; Adrian experienced(s) the same "lack of respect". You somewhat correctly note, "The team cannot control how well other teams perform", however, to some degree, they can control "who they play". Their control of "who they play", is of course limited, their conference (ECAC Northeast) has a poor Out-Of-Conference (OOC) record of 33-45-6, and then against teams who willing to risk their own OOC by playing them. Alas, it is a "chicken and the egg" scenario, Wentworth (Adrian like) certainly has done what it could (an OOC of 8-1-1), Wentworth knows what it has to do - continue winning and continue to seek out the best (historically) teams that will accept their challenge. On the bright side, at least they have been recruiting with the potential for an AQ, something Adrian has only just received.

As long as the league has an AQ, their rankings mean nothing except for the purposes of seeding. Win the league tournament, get to the NCAAs - look at rankings, get your seeding. That is 100% about how the team does on the ice.

True, but I think the point, is why they don't have a realistic chance at Pool C (i.e. "Don't" Win the league tournament, "and still" get to the NCAAs).
