I hope not - my Friday schedule has an opening in the early afternoon, but I am not able to watch a game that starts later.

To be fair, two of the goals were empty netters as the Babson coach tried everything to solve the NU defense at the end - also, babson beat Norwich twice and tied once, but the basic concept is there.

Good job on the broacast Ray. It was the first game I've heard you call. The hometeam broadcaster should get excited for his team. I enjoyed it, thanks!

I agree - I don't know what the grumps were complaining about. Accurate description - a bit towards the homer side sometimes, but he wasn't working for CBS either.

You also caught me on a bad night, sir. To a degree i was feeling the heat last night, and part of that is, we've never been anywhere close to this far in anything. Give me another chance at some point and i think you'll be surprised. I will acknowledge that Keeley is better at this stage. Great at what he does and an even better friend.

I joined this board a decade ago when I was working with Colby and just getting back into broadcasting. One of the first things I learned when I first joined this board was not to get bothered by any of the crap that I read here. You can't please all of the people all of the time; an announcer who does their homework and puts effort and enthusiasm into a call is going about their job correctly (even too much enthusiasm--that's still better than too little).

Last night, the announcing was the ONLY thing that kept me from turning it off. The video quality is in need of a significant upgrade.

If you've never done Play by Play, you don't know how hard it is. I do PxP for our local HS league, and I think I am better than some, and a lot worse than others. But, somebody out in Timbuktu is listening to their little Johnny play a game and are getting enjoyment out of it. I once had a Mom listening in Liberia while her son was playing in the HS Championship game.

Ray does get a bit(! :) ) excited during a Utica scoring rush and the volume goes up a bit. Ray - enjoy the moment. You never know if you'll be back.

That's good advice, Ray....your style is uniquely yours...nothing to apologize for or sweat over...I look forward to your call Friday and hope you AND Mike get to call Saturday as well...

I've heard Ray a couple of times and really enjoy his call. He's passionate and enthusiastic -- and yes, he's going to be more excited for the Pioneers. That's his job as a broadcaster for that team. I've found him to be objective about what happens on the ice yet an advocate for his team, and that's what the hometown crowd should expect. Ray's also very entertaining with a style and personality that are his own and an excitement that is contagious.

Keep doing what you're doing, Ray, never being complacent and always striving to improve. :)

(Unfortunately, I couldn't listen last night as I was busy creating things for people to complain about in a different game.)

Ray is right up there with the Oswego callers, not going to rank the top 5 - and really haven't heard enough to rank them anyway - but he has impressed right up there with Owwego's - a spade is a spade. He is going the distance and showing the commitment - wishing him the best.

It is difficult for sure. I did it for two years at WNYO from 2002-2004. I see a lot of what I used to do in Ray. High energy, but very knowledgeable. We aren't calling ping pong here.

And joecct, it was cool when I was told I had people in Europe listening to me. Put a smile on my face for days.

I had someone listening from Gitmo last night. Used to be the EIC of our newspaper and is serving out active duty for the National Guard.

Last year USCHO got a note from a serviceman thanking us for him being able to keep up with college hockey from Kandahar, Afghanistan.

And I know for a fact that the Potsdam radio crew had someone from Afghanistan listening to them.

Not due to lack of interest. Love to get together with you guys but my wife has me committed to a few things. I do want to meet my "neighbor". I'm going to be lucky at this point to see any of the game, and if it had been switched to the second game, I would have seen none of it. I'm getting squeezed on the schedule both before and after the game, so I hope the middle holds.
