I was there were you? Plattsburgh played a good game. They played well in the first, shots 15 to 13 and nearly went out of the first 0-0. Got right into it and really took it to them for the second out shooting them12-8 and had several good chances just couldn't get the bounce. Out shot them for a total 40-30. They came to play and The Cards were not a pushover by any means. No bounces our way or any puck luck. You know it happens. Trinity's goalie was good and they made the most of their chances. Home ice advantage. It DID matter in all four play off games last night. Give the Cards that game at home, as it SHOULD have been, maybe just maybe we would have a different outcome. But you had to be there to see it all unfoil. Videos and stats don't tell it all. Anyhow, it is a done deal but I am very proud of the Cards and I know all of us fans who made the trip felt the same. Good luck next year, boys. You'll be back.
This is a discussion board where we share our opinions. Your opinion is based on your experiences at the game, while mine is based on what I saw watching the live video.
I am proud of the Cardinals for a fantastic season. I never said they played poorly, or even that Trinity played better. I said that Trinity played smart, played tough, and did what they needed to do to win. I wasn't there - you know that - but I was watching online. Sure, I don't see it all, but I know that for much of the 1st and long stretches of the 2nd the play was predominately in the Plattsburgh zone. That said, I did get the sense that Plattsburgh really did play well, as you said. Trinity is no pushover, but I think Plattsburgh beats them in a multiple-game series, they just had a great night. Trinity had a game plan, executed it, and won.
What I said in the other thread was that - while I don't agree with the snide way it was phrased, which was clearly a shot at Remy moreso than at the team - I do agree that the gameplan that won them the game against Plattsburgh will not work against a more opportunistic team like Adrian. In my personal opinion, as much as I will support and applaud the Cardinals no matter the opponent, Adrian is the best team in the country this year, amd Trinity will lose to them.
As for the location of the game, I would have loved to have seen them playing here in Plattsburgh, too. My work schedule and financial situation dictated that I staybin Plattsburgh to support the ladies - as I'm sure you would have done if the NCAA had allowed both teams to play at home. But besides needing to shell out some money to travel, I can't agree that home ice played a significant role in the result of the game. Like I said, Trinity clearly had a gameplan and executed it. That same gameplan could have worked for them in Plattsburgh. You and I simply aren't going to agree on this point, so I think the most respectful thing for both of us to do is stop arguing over it.
