NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

if you have to ponder this then I have to ponder your fandom....

You only live once - and hopefully, seldom after graduation will you be have the luxury of such a choice - at least while you are young enough for it to be a choice.

I hope you guys know that, even as I typed that post, my mind had already been made up, and my ticket for that bus has already been purchased. I'll see you gentlemen on Saturday. :D

Alas, I will be in Middlebury this weekend (at least I'll be watching the Cardinals), I've already pulled in replacement coverage for two weekends, and there is still another trip to Oswego this year (likely the weekend of 11/3-11/4 or 11/10-11/11). If they weren't going to be home next weekend, I'd probably still make the trip.

If they didn't do the bus deal, I'd be going to Middlebury for sure. I'll still go to Middlebury if the fan bus doesn't sell out for whatever reason, and thus gets cancelled.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

Hell Id meet the bus in Albany and ride. Bus trips have always been a blast. The one to Minn so epic years ago lol. And for $15?!?!? You cant beat it.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

Tempting... just need to decide if I want to spend ~9hrs on a bus round-trip for a 2 hour hockey game, only to get on a bus 3 days later to make the 24hr trip to Florida (knowing full well that I'll be on the bus for another 24hrs on the return leg of the trip.

Bring reading material, iPod, iPad, noise canceling headphones. It's more comfortable than driving yourself.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

28 down, 28 to go (for all to go).
Another way to look at it - for another $20, 28 folks are guaranteed a trip with extra space and legroom...:D
Buy it out and charge those late to the party $25...
Folks who are on the fence waiting for the numbers to get closer will jump in now that its a guaranteed thing...

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

Amherst must be purchasing the tickets for their students and paying the difference on the other student tickets because all tickets have a minimum price of $5.00 per NCAA handbook.

That is correct. Geneseo did this a few years ago in the SUNYAC playoffs and I presume the NCAA playoffs. The athletic department bought an allotment of tickets, allowing students to get in for free. One way or antoher, if a ticket is used, the school is responsible for the costs, no matter who pays for them.

Here's my question: As a student of Siena College, do I benefit from this student rate as well? I know the NC$$ wants my $2, but so do I. :D

The schools that are buying tickets for their students are buying them for THEIR students. That's why they ask for THEIR student ID. Not some other college...

I think you're wrong. The press release says student tickets are $3.00 but Amherst students get in free. I think Nate will be able to get the student discount no matter what school is on his ID.

Re: NCAA Quarterfinal Plattsburgh @ Amherst

I knew you would come up with a link Norm! and these will be available in Plattsburgh if I remember correctly?

It appears so -

An allotment of 250 tickets for Plattsburgh State fans interested in traveling to Saturday’s NCAA Men’s Hockey Quarterfinal game at Amherst will be available Wednesday and Thursday at the Angell College Center on campus of SUNY Plattsburgh.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are $5 for adults and $3 for college students, children 2-18 and senior citizens (ages 62 and up). Tickets can be purchased at the Angell College Center Information Desk Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. – midnight until tickets are sold out.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Orr Rink with doors scheduled to open at 6 p.m.

You both are correct, he will get the General Student price ($3 in this case), but he wont get the Amherst purchased Free ticket.

Maybe he can get Siena to buy him a ticket???

He could be the band -

A maximum of 25 band members plus the director, 12 uniformed spirit squad members plus the sponsor, and one costumed
mascot will be admitted free of charge
. Live animal mascots are not permitted. The institution may purchase additional
tickets for band members; however, no more than 25 will be permitted to play during any session. The host institution should
play electronic music from the time the doors open until the bands begin warming

Or maybe this -

two of which must be designated for medical personnel and are complimentary;

EDIT:

However, 29 credentials will be provided to each team: 26 bench credentials, one all-access credential for the institution’s
SID, and two all-access passes to the institution’s administration). Any additional individuals (excluding spirit squad, mascots
and band members) must purchase a ticket from the institution’s allocation.
