Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

Congrats to Cornell. Way to go.

Now rooting 1000% for one more win to bring the thropy east. !!!
(Would that be the first ever NCAA for an Ivy in womens hockey?)

Yes, the WCHA has won every NCAA title. Harvard did win the 1999 National Championship before the NCAA sponsored the sport.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

I really like the game winner shots.. stupid me went ice level behind that net and ended up with Doocy in front of me blocking the ending! Made for lots of celebration shots though.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

Gotta say congrats to Cornell too.. they came in an underdog and found the Mercyhurst weakness and exploited it to score goals.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

Have to say that IMO #7 Rougeau played an excellent game tonight...very smart "stay at home" D who made great decisions the entire game.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

Congrats to Cornell. For all but one period (the second) they outplayed Mercyhurst and shutdown the two scoring lines. I had this game very wrong, as I never imagined Cornell outshooting the Lakers. Now go beat UMD and bring a title east.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

Prior to the game, a lot of the pro-Mercyhurst comments on this board pointed to the Lakers' speed being the difference in the game. Watching as a neutral party, what I saw was that Cornell was not having any difficulty keeping up.

Then, when their speed was negated, the Lakers tried to get physically aggressive. They did bang the Big Red around quite a bit. But it was clear to me that Mercyhurst wasn't used to playing in that matter, and they let their defense slip a bit.

I really believe that it was beneficial to EVERYONE that the WCHA officials worked the physical game. Who knows how the penalty count would have looked had it been officials from a conference with less physical play.

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

As mentioned when Hux posted the game winning goal shots, my shot was blocked by the referee skating in the way.. wish I were the guy shooting right behind the net, if he got something good.

The one shot I got was a frame before the ref got in the way

This is a couple frames later, with him still there

The rest I have from Cornell/Mercyhurst

It was a great game to watch. Cornell did a nice job in disrupting Mercyhurst's usual pattern of play. I was not sure how that one was going to end.

Check out their penalty minutes on the season; I'd guess MC is plenty used to banging their opponents around.

Whoops...intended to post that in the other thread.
Even the " :D "?
;)

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

So happy for Cornell.

Mercy'curst cheaters goes home with no title again!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Congrats to Cornell for doing an excellent job jamming the $#!T out of 'Hurst's play. Tip of the hat to 'em! I agree with LakersFan, go beat the Bulldogs and bring the title East!

But meanwhile, LOL, I think this particular quote deserves a little explanation. Especially from such a reputable poster....before I neg rep you, LOL, what does this mean?

Well lets just say their admissions could use some investigating. How they manage to sneak some of these ladies past the Clearinghouse after other schools (or the vast majority in the case of Agosta) are unsuccessful continues to amaze me. There's more story but I wont get into it here, e-mail me if you want to know.

It also annoys me more each year the way their fans continue to rave over their support (634 average in a 1300 seat building?) and how their schedule is the toughest around (9th? and you play in the CHA, real tough). Then they have they gaul to complain about how they don't get any respect when they win the CHA that up until the past few seasons has been a rather gravy road compared to the competition in the other three conferences.

Sure it was good for the game when they first made the tournament. But now that they are a repeat visitor in the field, the underdog title has worn off except for how they choke each year when it really counts. It's like they want to be put up on a higher level, as if they are a repeat National Champion, except they play a weak conference schedule and have yet to win any championship that matters.

Maybe someday that feeling will change but for now they are the one team I can honestly say I hate more than Duluth.

ok, End of Rant!

Glad you got it all out of your system! LOL

I don't think it was called for, but...wuteva...

I kind of considered you a far more objective and reputable poster, but I guess now I know better. Live and learn!

Well...You asked for an explanation...and.... You got one. :D

Re: National Semifinal: Cornell vs. Mercyhurst

MC will hopefully learn from this game. To much selfish and individual play played right into Cornells great team play that had 2 and sometimes 3 players on the puck in their own end. A little direction and control of a number of egos may send this team back to the finals next season
