As an ECAC fan I appreciate all the MN fans saying congrats to Union. Yes I understand you lost 5 underclassman last year so we don't need to bring it up anymore

Well, as ancient as it may be, RPI has the same # of Natl Titles and Frozen Fours as Union. I'm guessing in a year or two that Union will totally have RPI's #, but for now, can't say you have a ton of ground to stand on? I mean, sure, we live in world where most people have ADHD, and/or don't remember what happened last year, but the reality is still there in the record books.

Backing up my talk will have to rely on the future. What I posted has to do with the present. I am sorry if you MN fans get rattled by that. You have a great team moving forward, and MORE importantly, I think Don Lucia is an incredible coach. How you guys put it together coming down the stretch was impressive. Again, I don't mean to offend anyone. If offended, then take a pill that prevents arrogance!!

While the team I cheer for may have lost in semifinal #2, this was overall a very entertaining Frozen Four tournament.

Congrats Union and to even the Gophers who had a very good team this year as well.

Hey BigAl, its not a diss on Union, as least not on my part. Union is, was, has been a legit friggin team. Deserving of a #1 or #2 ranking all season, and if more games were played between the top teams from the east and west, Union may have gotten more of the votes for #1 throughout the season? Or maybe your players just peaked at the right time? Seems they are on a big winning streak.

No one is dissing Union. But we are going to defend ourselves when people try to diss us for losing. You should be far more insulted by fans of other teams than Gopher fans. Union deserved this title as much as any Title winning team I can remember. There was no officiating issues, there was no injury issues, there was NOTHING, simply Union, winning. Outright, no question.

Gophers were, many won't admit, just happy to be in the Title game. Why do you think we rioted in the streets after beatin UND in the semis?! lol

"prevents arrogance"??? Why would sending 5 underclassmen to the NHL and then STILL ending up in the Championship game the next season make us feel like we need to be humble?! lol

I'm feeling MORE ARROGANT than I've felt in a long time!!!!


The team that just barely beat us on a fluke goal last year in OT, went on to win the Title?! What does that say about how good we were last year? Then we lose all we did?!


Dude, arrogance is thinking that flying under the radar and finally winning your first ever Natl Title means you are the Sh1t.

I'm serious dude, your Dutchman were an incredible team, clearly the best in the nation this year. VERY and absolutely deserving of your Natl Title, but good luck with being able to maintain that status in the future. From here on out guys, the NHL is going to treat you like they do the Gophers and Souix and BC and BU and Badgers and Wolverines. They are going to rape your roster, they are going to pluck all of your best players and you are going to be thrown into disarray, and recruiting from here on out is going to have to adapt, or you will fall back into the pack and be talked about as that one hit wonder program.

Now when you recruit a player, other programs will actually take notice and may try to steal that player away, unlike before when they thought to themselves, "its only Union, if that's who wants them, they can't be that good, lol".


Lots of programs have won 1 or 2 Titles in the past, but are they still around or in any way still relevant?!


I like Union, I hope they are still around and relevant in 10 years, but until I see it, you could be another Miami of Ohio, UM-Duluth or Yale. Here one day and gone the next.


UMn's always been there, from the beginning, and is still there, and always will be. Welcome to "tArrogance".

Man, what a fantastic weekend of hockey. Both semifinals made it seem that tonight would be tough to top it, yet tonight was a very exciting, fast paced affair.

I was very impressed with the amount of Flyers fans who attended tonight. They sure got to see their future (soon to be?) defenseman put on a performance that gave them a heck of a preview of things to come. Tremendous effort on both ends of the ice by Ghost.

Congrats to both fan bases on a great turnout, and great seasons. Minnesota never rebuilds, they reload. Hopefully Union can begin to do the same, that is a heck of a program that has been built in the past handful of years.

No offense, but we can and should bring it up as often as we'd like. It's not mentioned to take anything away from the accomplishments of your team, but two teams were involved in the game tonight, not just yours. And the fact that Minnesota lost 5 key players to the NHL, started 6-7 freshmen on a nightly basis, and had to rely on those freshmen to fill key roles shows just how big of an accomplishment getting to this game was for our team.

Yes, your team deserves praise. Absolutey. But I am proud of this Gopher team and believe they deserve praise for what they accomplished this season too. And that includes making it this far while relying on big contributions from a very young roster.

Cops were taking selfies with fans, wow, must have been a horribly violent riot, lol.

And no, I wasn't a part of the festivities, so your trying to refer to me as an idiot kind of missed the mark, GrinCDXX.

but I encourage you to continue trying. Being from Billings Montana, I can image you have a lot of experience with what happens when college teams make it to Championship Games, right?! lol

Nobody cares if you lost players.

Just like us, your program chooses to recruit those guys and you live with the consequences - both good and bad.

Didn't you get 3 years out of some of those 5?


It was a good season. You should be proud and the Gophers will most likely be favorites next year - and better for this experience.

Don't cheapen it with excuses that are nothing more than year to year reality for programs like Minny and Wisconsin.

9 seconds into the OT has to be considered fluke. Didn't say lucky or undeserved. Yale was obviously a good team, seeing as they went on to win the title, but no other team challenged them and came as close to beating them as did the Gophers.

Maybe the use of the word "fluke" was not the best, but I just don't know what other way to describe it? I mean no offense to Yale, they were at worst the 2nd best team that year, and maybe the best? Thing is, UMn blew their change to prove that they weren't, so be it. Congrats Yale. My guess is that they were happy about the one and done aspect of the tourney, compared to the earlier series' that teams had to play.


But that's probably just tArrogance coming through, right?!

I live in Billings currently, I spent my first thirty years in the Twin Cities. That includes my time at the U living on campus during 2002 and 2003. I have plenty of experience, thank you very much.
