I do not agree with the shovel break rule nonsense. Both teams, timeouts or not, get the same amount of break time so the playing field is already level no matter what. I think trying to analyze things any further than that is completely unnecessary. All they really do is slow the game down.

I really doubt that players from Bowling Green have been upset that Michigan gets all of those tv timeouts in games that they themselves are not even playing in.

If you think about it, its a good rule, as the bigger named schools with TV deals, get extra time during the TV timeout to rest that top line and throw them right back out there. Throughout the season, that can add up to numerous extra shifts compared to a school such as NMU, Alaska, Ferris etc...

Alaska has a ton of games televised.
