My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I DVR'ed it and was afraid of a long OT game, so I had the DVR record for two hours after the allotted time slot, meaning that the recording stopped at 1am Eastern. The winning goal was scored at 1:02. Are you kidding?

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Best quote so far on hfboards...

"I want to have the gayest mansex with Corey Crawford right now. I don't swing that way and he probably doesn't either, but I soooooo want to. What a goalie."

:D:D

I have been slow to get on the Crawford bandwagon (I thought he looked shaky in Game 5 against the Kings.) But man oh man, did he look good last night. Mercy.

Horton could be a big loss for the B's, but they did it without him in 2011. Wait a minute! Blackhawks>>>>Canucks. Yep, big loss. :)

Saw this one on twitter: "All right they one that one, but there is still 77 periods of hockey left in this series."

Pens give contract extensions to Bylsma and Geno.

Dan Bylsma’s tenure behind the Penguins bench – which is already the longest in team history – is going to continue.

Penguins general manager Ray Shero announced Wednesday that the team had signed Bylsma to a two-year contract extension that will keep him as head coach of the team through the 2015-16 season. The Penguins also extended the contracts of assistant coaches Tony Granato and Todd Reirden.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Evgeni Malkin on an eight-year $76 million contract extension, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Pfffffft. SLU vs BU 4 OT thriller back in 2000. Poor Maine and Michigan players had a 4 hour stretch and warm up before their game.
Still remember Shawn Walsh sitting in the stands, looking bored.

I was amused to see posts about potential power failures, because I was thinking of Bruins-Oilers 1990. There was a power failure in that game, in addition to the three OTs. The power failure wasn't due to a storm; it was the antiquated electrical system in the Boston Garden

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I was at the Twins game last night. I was very happy to see the game still going when I got home.

You rpobably saw almost a full game!!

And I was at the BU-SLU OT game as well. The Academy Awards were on that night. I figured I would be home in time - it was what, a 2 1/2 hour drive back to Boston? I remember calling my mother around 5pm to put a tape in the VCR to start recording it. Ah, memories...

Anyway, the Bruins had no puck luck at all last night otherwise I think they would have won. Plus the fact that Crawford had an awesome game. That game tying goal was such a fluke, and I don't mean that to be negative against the Blackhawks. Not saying they wouldn't have eventually tied that up but man, nowhere near the net and it glances off Andrew Ference. Bummer. And I kinda wish Torey Krug had scored there in OT. Would have made up for being the reason for Chicago's second goal.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

What a great way to open the Finals! Boston comes out and looks great in the first period. Chicago dominates the second. The third is pretty even with each side having the run of play for chunks of time. Then, the Bruins outplay Chicago in the 1st OT. Chicago outplays Boston in the 2nd OT. Finally, Boston outplays Chicago in the 3rd OT, but the bounces go the Blackhawks way.

If the rest of the series is like this, I have a feeling we'll be watching plenty of OT and probably a game 7. These sides appear to be about as even as it gets.

I think Chicago has the better goalie, better finishers, and will win in four or five. The games will be close and contested, but Boston blew a good chance to make it a long hard series.

VCR?

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Disagree here. I think both goalies are both equally excellent. I think Rask has been more solid throughout the playoffs and more of a reason why Boston is in the Final than Crawford is for Chicago.

No argument here. :(

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Biased fan opinion here.

Crawford from what I have seen in the past few years (fantasy team) is not necessarily better than rask. He did play well and have a few good saves in that game and might have even kept them in it. As for the blackhawks, I thought they were all in all the better team. more turnovers, more takeaways, more dynamic east/west offense. Much different team than boston and I can see why they have a whole 7 losses in the RS. Boston had a lot of trouble getting to lose pucks, getting it out of their zone, but did a good job neutralizing the blackhawks neutral zone game.

The key is that IMO the blackhawks seem to overload the puck side, so if you can catch their D pinching, you can create odd man rushes which the bruins did. Fewer turnovers and maybe capitalize on one of these odd man rushes and the bruins can win. More of the same, and this is over in 5.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I think these 4 of 5 games predictions are nuts. #Seven

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I missed the end of the game. I had to call it quits after the first OT. Stupid job.

Here too. Did not want to get up at 5 am after multiple OTs. My mom told me SHE stayed up for the entire game.... so I only feel a little like a loser. ;) She doesn't even really like the NHL - but she likes hockey (and she also doesn't have a job).

I was surprised to see the top 5 TV markets for that game were: Chicago, Boston, Providence, Buffalo.... and Milwaukee.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I post this realizing that Boston has some pretty horrid fans too, but really?

Email sent to us: "I'll be praying for Boston because you just got blown up by Shaw.
