My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

I am happy that it is tied up. I slightly lean towards Chicago because of Leddy, and because Boston has won plenty over the last ten years, in every sport.

Not sure why Q didn't play him much other than he's our 6th and we have 2 days off.

He's gonna be a really good player once he matures (as a player) a little more.

Such a great player through the neutral zone.

“Computer automation will bite ya sometimes.”

Unfortunately, I can attest to that. Most of the third period of our game vs Vermont in Philly didn't hit the network because the station automation computer wasn't reset after the game time was bumped to an 8pm start. :(

Right, those poor, poor Chicago fans. It's been three whole years since that city has won a thing!! And a huge abyss of 5 years between their Stanley Cup and World Series win.

The White Sox don't count.

PUH-LEEZE!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

No city has had a run anywhere close to what Boston has had over the past 10-12 years. And if you're a BC fan, it's even better (for you).

More than half of Chicago doesn't even like the White Sox.

Talk about sandbagging... :D:p

First of all, that post is hardly a sandbagging post and you should see all my other posts to fully understand just what that is and how ridiculously good at it I am.

Secondly, I'm sorry but I am so sick of that as a reason. When the Bruins played Vancouver, Esquire had a column that the Bruins didn't deserve to win because Boston had won so much already. The team, who worked their asses off to get there didn't deserve win? Really? What a crybaby. And I can roll my eyes just as much, if not more, than you. It's a stupid reason. They're playing a team that won it three years ago. If they were playing San Jose, OK, fine. That's a city that hasn't won a thing. But Chicago isn't lacking for championships.

Thirdly - the fact that you think I could be a BC fan puts you on my **** list for time being. I can't help it that other schools couldn't do what I hope and prayed they could (including my own, though that would still make the rest of the country whine). But since they couldn't, OK then. Another one to add to the list.

Sorry bout the BC thing...

I never said that the Bruins didn't deserve to win. They are one of the hardest working, MOST deserving teams I've seen in a long time.

I just don't think you can say with a straight face that Chicago and Boston are anywhere close to an equal footing when it comes to winning championships. Hawks and Sox, once each which to Chicagoans count as 1.4 total championships because it's a split baseball town.

Boston's got what... 2 World Series, 1 Cup, 1 NBA and 3 (4?) Super Bowls?

All in the past 12 or so years.

Look, I give a crap about Chicago and their teams beyond the Hawks. Grew up down there to native Sconnies who never once let me cheer for a Chicago team other than the Hawks. Went to school and living up here since '88. Chicago can sink into Lake Michigan for all I care as long as the UC ends up on the new lake front.

Deserves got nothing to do with it. I just don't want Boston to win anymore.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Since the Snow Bowl in 2002, Boston has been in the final four of the various professional sports leagues 17 times out of a possible 184 (9.2%). The Bruins twice, Celtics and Red Sox four times each and the Patriots seven times. In that time Boston has won three Super Bowls, two World Series, an NBA title and a Stanley Cup. If the Bruins win this year, it will give Boston eight titles since 2002, or 17.4% of championships in the four major sports. You can toss in the four straight title game appearances by the New England Revolution in MLS, plus the five NCAA titles won by BC (one in 2001) and BU hockey and you'd be hard-pressed to find another city that has enjoyed a stretch like this in all athletics. New York has had a modicum of success with two final four appearances by both the Jets and Giants (two Super Bowl titles) and five by the Yankees (one World Series title) but the Knicks, Mets, Rangers and Islanders have a big goose egg in all categories. Detroit has 13 final fours but only three titles and they have had to deal with the albatross known as the Lions.

The :) was a good addition. Makes it softer somehow. :D

Yeah, it came off as far too serious before I put that in there. This isn't a vehement hatred or anything, it's sports for cripes sake. :D

I also want to add that when Boston played Vancouver, I was very much cheering for Boston.

It does, it really does!! :)

And look, I get it. I took "an embarrassment of riches" photo after the Bruins won it two years ago of my tshirt and hat collection. It's been an amzing run and I know it's something unprecendented and I absolutely don't take it for granted. I'm also fully aware and totally understand the resentment. It just rings a little hollow coming from Chicago. And I know it hurts even more when teams like the Ducks and the Marlins win championships when the Cubs and the Maple Leafs and the Bills have nothing.

And I never said you said the Bruins didn't deserve it. It was some idiot columnist of a national publication. In fact, I think when it came out posters here thought it was a stupid article. I thought it was so unfair to the Bruins. Say the city doesn't deserve it because of M******* fans - that I could understand. I would roll my eyes and disagree, but I would understand. I know it was implied, but I didn't like how the team, who made it to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in a long time should face that kind of blanket statement.

Re: My Stanley Cup Runneth Over

Hold on, did someone suggest that Scarlet might be a BC fan?
