MSU Spartans Offseason

Re: MSU Spartans Offseason

On the other other hand, the consolation "prize" is two committed Millers, one a D-man and the other a forward, are participating in the Ivan Hlinka.

As far as the draft goes, I believe size played a part. I suppose for all the talk, a small to mid-stature defenseman is a tough sell, as far as the early-entry route is concerned, but it costs GM's nothing where tryouts are concerned.

So the Millers did go to the Hlinka. USA made it to the championship game but lost to the Czechs. Tommy Miller did get the USA Best Player in the final. Plus Tommy Miller is now on the NTDP and will play against State December 2nd at Munn.

Since Chris Solari is moving on to the Det. Free Press as the lead MSU sports guy, expect a change in how MSU hockey gets covered for the LSJ. I've enjoyed Mr. Solari's work for the most part - he took the hockey beat seriously. What should happen is Neil Koepke gets his old job back - at least as correspondent.

Re: MSU Spartans Offseason

I posted quite a while ago about a pipeline player on his way into State. Again I say, keep your eye on Mitch Lewandowski. Currently in his final year in the USHL Chicago Steel. He was injured at the end of last season. He will be a Freshie Spartan next season. Based on Saturday night's game against Green Bay... (He was the #1 star with 3 points) His shoulder is fixed and he's headed for very good things... and you Sparty fans are in for a heck of a treat in the coming years. This kid seems to be the real deal. Remember that name. Lewandowski.

Guess we're going with a "practice like you play" mentality this year?

I think those jerseys came off the clearance rack at Dunham's. Hopefully I'll warm to them as the season progresses.
