2010 rookie Lee Reimer F Canmore (AJHL) finished the 2009/10 regular season with a 59 33 44 77 line, good for 10th in the league.
Tied for 5th in power play goals (11),
Tied for 2nd in shorthanded goals (4),
8th in goals (33) and 10th in assists (44)
He also led his own team in scoring.

He has 8 points in 6 games in the Enerflex Cup playoffs.

Now about the other LOI, netminder Willie Yanakeff ...
I've wondered about Yanakeff's declining numbers over the course of the season for Sioux Falls (now with Waterloo) until I was reassured after reading this from Rivals:

That's a quote from Waterloo PR. Here's to a completely clean bill of health by September. :eek:

First chance to talk about a 94.
He's goalie Jared Rutledge, 6'0 155# from Skokie, IL, playing for Chicago Young Americans midget minor. He'll try out for NTDP this year.
Right now he's favoring MSU, but we may have to contend with North Dakota and Wisconsin.
He would part of a 2012 incoming class.

will be interesting to see what recruit we get to replace Petry.. if he leaves..correct me if i am wrong but he hasn't signed yet has he?

Chris Heisenberg has listed a new commitment for Michigan State -
6'1 170# defenseman Chris Sandmeyer from Green Mountain of EJHL.
He is a former Portage Central standout.

40 games at Green Mountain he has 5 goals, 15 assists.
Note: Those 20 points came in his last 22 games. That's a nice run.

He's a 1990. Kinda rare to get success out of a 4-year Michigan high school player who comes right out of the EJHL, but I get the sense he's a late bloomer. Put up some great numbers to close out the season, as has been mentioned - wicked on special teams too!

Meanwhile, I believe we've filled our need at forward for now.

52 points in 57 games in his 09/10 USHL season with Chicago and Omaha.
Interestingly, Wolfe was verbally committed to Western Michigan.

Wolfe joins Reimer, Yanakeff at MSU in fall 2010

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State hockey coach Rick Comley has announced that Greg Wolfe (Canton, Mich.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Spartans. He will join fellow incoming freshmen Lee Reimer (Landmark, Manitoba) and Willie Yanakeff (Jerome, Mich.) on the Spartan roster in the fall of 2010.

“We are excited that Greg has signed his letter and will be coming to East Lansing in the fall,” noted Comley. “Greg is a skilled player, and has a nose for the net. He can play in every situation, making him a versatile addition. He, Lee and Willie will play a big part in filling out the needs on our roster for coming years. We think that they all will contribute positive things to our program. We currently have a young team, and are excited about adding promising young players to that mix for the coming seasons.”

This season, Wolfe was involved in a trade-deadline deal in the USHL that sent him from Chicago to Omaha. He helped the Lancers to a first-place finish in the West Division, and are still alive in the Clark Cup playoffs, currently facing off with the Fargo Force in the West Division finals, a best-of-seven series. In 18 games with Omaha, he has averaged better than a point per game (7g, 13a) and is a +18. In Chicago, he had a 17-15-32 scoring line in 39 games, with four power-play goals and three shorthanded strikes.

Reimer is also still playing hockey in the AJHL’s Doyle Cup playoffs. In the regular season, Reimer led the Canmore Eagles in scoring with a 33-44-77 scoring line in 59 games, ranking 10th in the league in points, eighth in goals, 10th in assists, 13th in points per game (1.13), sixth in power play goals (11), and fourth in shorthanded markers (4). Through six playoff games, he has one goal and seven assists.

Yanakeff had his 2009-10 season shortened by injury, and was also the subject of a mid-season USHL trade from Sioux City to the Waterloo Blackhawks. In his 10 games in Waterloo, he posted a 5-5-0 record and 3.41 GAA for the Blackhawks, who finished fourth in the East Division.

Wolfe Commits to Western Michigan UniversityThe Chicago Steel announced that forward Greg Wolfe has committed to Western Michigan University and will attend the school beginning in the fall of 2010.

The 19-year-old native of Canton, Michigan ranks third on the Steel in scoring with 30 points (15g, 15a) through 36 games this season. Wolfe was named team captain for 2009-10 and is second in goals (15) while leading the club with a plus-six rating. He began this season scoring a goal in each of Chicago's first four games. Wolfe is playing in his second USHL season after recording 27 points (21g, 6a) in 41 games during the 2008-09 campaign.

Wolfe will be joined by Steel teammate Nick Pisellini at Western Michigan. Three other current USHL players are also committed to attend the school following their USHL careers; Dennis Brown (Omaha Lancers), Dan Dekeyser (Sioux City Musketeers), and David Donnellan (Youngstown Phantoms).

Yet another sign there is a perception out there that MSU Athletics (with a capital "A" to signify those at the top) doesn't give a high priority to hockey.

Mark Yanis is a highly-touted defenseman playing for Belle Tire. He's quoted as saying the following in an interview with Rivals - in which he makes two subtly d@mning back-handed comments.

"Here in Michigan is (sic) just kind of football and basketball at Michigan State and (at Minnesota) it's hockey, hockey, hockey, so it's kind of overwhelming with the fans and just the people," he said. "I've always wanted to go (to MSU) but my goal is to go to the NHL and Minnesota has been a great team for developing defensemen."

Somebody should send that article to Hollis in the hope that it somehow gets under his skin.

I'm not sure if apathy is lethal or not, but it sure seems poisonous.
