joe is one of the ones I'd like to deprogram. Others here have really found their true home in Dump, and they can rot, but joe seems like a good man who got fucked by chance and now has to ride it out or face the magnitude of how he has been duped.

Every 3 months, you seem to find some conservative on this board who you truly feel to be a good person. Everyone then tells you they're actually batshit crazy and an asshole, you stick to your "they're just duped, they're really good people." Then, shortly after you realize they're not actually duped, but full-on racists and suddenly you act all surprised and let down.

Here's a short tip - they're choosing to be hateful assholes with no regard for human life outside of fellow Christian white men.

To be fair to me (yes, let's) joe has been that for me from the start. I'll admit it looks worse and worse for the others, but I have enough of an off-board connection with him to think he fits into the "decent person who has been fooled" folder, not the "bad guy who found himself among his ilk" folder.

Now, does it even matter, when the consequences of their votes are the same? Do the Good Germans who supported Fit Dump have any less responsibility for the death camps than the slathering monsters who drew up the plans?

I suspect every genocide and every mass populace evil in world history has been this mix of crazy leaders, opportunistic aparatchiks, awful henchmen, duped cultists, and lethargic sheep. The best contemporary analogy to the GOP now is the Russians in Ukraine. They are murdering and raping and destroying innocent people. Some of them are into it, some of them are at bayonet point, some of them are asleep and just following orders. That's what the Right in America is. But as a human being, you do have opposable thumbs and a conscience. You do have a responsibility to stop being selfish and start opposing evil even when it is so close it's wearing your clothes.

He doesnt even hide it, he openly says it often as he is skewering them. He is friends with conservatives and nutjobs like Joe Rogan but he is not one of them and never pretended to be. His anger is cause he is Irish not because he is a persecuted White Man. I mean for godsakes his wife is Black and she would kick his ass if he ever became like those clowns.

The reason Burr gets added to the con crew is cause he will rip everyone and is not PC about it.

The problem is joe was being awful long before Trump he just hid it a little better. Many of us were telling you about it while Obama was in office. (mostly on abortion but anything that approached religious)

We all have our blind spots, many of us liked Bob Gray for years before he went full on RWNJ and had a hard time letting go. You want to believe they aren't who they are "anonymously" on a message board, but the truth is they are exactly who they appear to be here.

The thing the Right doesn't understand is one characteristic of an intelligent being is the ability to self-criticize. NOBODY makes funnier jokes about the Left than Leftists. NOBODY makes funnier jokes about feminism than Feminists. NOBODY makes funnier jokes about critical theory than Critical Theorists.

But because the Right has no ability to self-examine or be self-critical they cannot conceive of anyone "owning the libs" unless they must be a con. This is hilariously wrong and one of the cons' most pathetic deficiencies, and it oozes out of their "humor" which is really just smugness and/or idiocy.

People being awful about religion is just a birth defect. Most people are born without inward-looking skepticism. 97% of the population can be on guard from somebody else getting over on them without ever suspecting they themselves are getting over on them. And the possession of that trait isn't something one works for, it's there all the way from birth. Very, very few of us realize that what is and what we believe are different sets and the degree of overlap is coincidence.

It has been baked in to the GOP for decades now. The smartest conservatives bailed on Reagan, the middle brows on Newt, and even the idiots with a conscience on Cheney. By the time Dump came along all that was left was con men and brownshirts, so of course none left.

Dump didn't create the fascist GOP; the fascist GOP coronated Dump.
