Movies: Poor Things, Barbie and Oppenheimer are stuck in La La Land

Ripping will take a few minutes. At this point, it all depends upon the speed of your Blu-ray drive speed and your hard drive. Given that hard drives are solid state these days, it’s likely the Blu-ray drive that limits the rip speed.
What do I need to download? Or can you point me to the explainers you used?

I didn’t read an explainer. I was just thinking through the logic of how fast processing chips are, RAM loaded onto non-entry-level PCs, and data bus transfer rates. Because of all those considerations, I think the optical drive is the choke point for transferring data because they only spin so fast before they turn into helicopters.

I will probably have to dig further into it, as I'd want quality of current 4K streaming, not compressed garbage like watching cable. .

Another side track, anyone remember when HD first came out and you could could blades of grass and see stitching on jerseys? And then cable became greedy and compressed the shit out of the feeds?
I will look into it tomorrow...mainly for selfish reasons :p

For me the MCU movies that didn't suck to varying degrees that I would watch again if they were on-

Iron Man 1
Guardians 1
Winter Soldier
Endgame
Black Panther
Thor 1 ?? I don't know if this one holds up or not but I think I remember enjoying it the first time
The first SM with Holland

The animated spider verse one slapped too

Otherwise I agree with your assessment

God yes. It was spectacular.

I would assume some of it also has to do with how big you want the file to be. Want one of those huge MKV files that are frankly a waste of space unless you have a 12th generation tv (not a thing) it probably takes hours...want just a nice 2-6 gig file I assume it takes considerably less. I havent done it in years though so I am unsure. Although I do have a lot of DVDs taking up space...
I disagree. But I also have a reference level TV soooo lol

You really need to do a full mkv rip and only specific blu-ray drives are up to snuff.

Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, Misery, and A Few Good Men will all have to go into the re-watch queue. I think I have the first two seasons of AITF on DVD somewhere as well.

Honestly, I remember Misery being my favorite of that group.

Rob Reiners first 7 films:

1) Spinal Tap
2) The Sure Thing
3) Stand By Me
4) The Princess Bride
5) When Harry Met Sally (which btw he changed the ending of because he met his wife)
6) Misery
7) A Few Good Men

As someone on Bluesky said...even Steven Spielberg had "1941" in his first seven!

8 was North which bombed but 9 was An American President which I am watching later because I love it!

That is the first step, but then please read it.
You may be right, I just can't watch it first. I watched it as a child with a family member the same age who has now been gone for 25 years, and its something I can only do once in a great while. But doesn't mean I love it any less.
