I didn’t read an explainer. I was just thinking through the logic of how fast processing chips are, RAM loaded onto non-entry-level PCs, and data bus transfer rates. Because of all those considerations, I think the optical drive is the choke point for transferring data because they only spin so fast before they turn into helicopters.

Want one of those huge MKV files that are frankly a waste of space unless you have a 12th generation tv (not a thing) it probably takes hours...want just a nice 2-6 gig file I assume it takes considerably less. I havent done it in years though so I am unsure. Although I do have a lot of DVDs taking up space...

I disagree. But I also have a reference level TV soooo lol

You really need to do a full mkv rip and only specific blu-ray drives are up to snuff.
 
Spinal Tap, Princess Bride, Misery, and A Few Good Men will all have to go into the re-watch queue. I think I have the first two seasons of AITF on DVD somewhere as well.

Honestly, I remember Misery being my favorite of that group.

You may be right, I just can't watch it first. I watched it as a child with a family member the same age who has now been gone for 25 years, and its something I can only do once in a great while. But doesn't mean I love it any less.
