Outside of The Mandalorian I just can’t get excited about Star Wars anymore.

I definitely won’t be watching RJ’s trilogy unless a miracle happens and he’s Devined a magical storytelling capability i’ve Yet to witness. Sorry, RJ fans, repeated viewings of TLJ and a second watch of Looper enforce for me that he’s just not a director that interests me whatsoever.

Time Trap:
A professor enters a cave and goes missing. Some of his students come looking for him and get trapped in the cave as well.

Forget about the cast. You won't give two craps about them. The concept of the movie, though, is good, and it was done decently. There's nothing groundbreaking, but as the movie goes on, it's fun to figure out when everyone else is going to figure things out.

Rattlesnake:
When a single mother accepts the help of a mysterious woman after her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake, she finds herself making an unthinkable deal with the devil to repay the stranger.

YAWN. Stopped it after about 15-20 minutes, because it really sucked. I halfway tried to find the ending on the internet, but even that wasn't worth it, so I stopped trying. One could probably predict the gist of it.

The Command:
The film follows the 2000 K-141 Kursk submarine disaster and the governmental negligence that followed. As the sailors fight for survival, their families desperately battle political obstacles and impossible odds to save them.

Based on fact, and of course some truths were bent a bit for dramatic effect. However, still a solid movie, and I thought it was well-done, especially showing the seamen's despair/emotions. I would definitely recommend this one.

Hell yes.

A perfect quote: He continued: “If the flag on that car when we did that show represented inequality or racism in any regard, Uncle Jesse would have made us scratch it off with our teeth. And people know that. But people are also led around by social media. We have a line in the movie where my barber – Floyd, the Barber--says, ‘People don't think what they think anymore, they think what they're told to think.’

This popped up on my Twitter feed as a post of a post or however that all works.....

So... We white boys think it’s not racist. Therefore, **** your feelings.

Did I get the gist of it?

Read the bolded. It wasn't really an issue then, and in the show, it represented simple southern living, nothing more. Think: Skynyrd. People forget this, but the Dukes show actually taught morality, treating people kindly, and the truly good people always won. They really embraced the Golden Rule.

BUT THE SYMBOL! ;)

Why do I get the feeling if there was just one black person posting regularly on the Cafe about half the idiocy righties spew would never see the light of day?

Then again, it doesn't help with women posting.

They must just don't know how they sound.

Oh, I fully understand what it means to some. To others, that thought NEVER crossed their mind. It means something completely different to them.

From this point forward, are people going to call out anyone who uses the "ok" finger sign? Is one REALLY going to do that?

Don't flash it in South America, unless you want to start a fistfight over who takes it up the culero. ;)

It may have never crossed their mind then but it does now. Now is what matters not then.

This is called "whitesplaining."

It is considered bad.

Don't do it.

If something hurts a lot of people don't do it even you didn't mean to hurt them.

FFS, is it really that hard a concept for knucks? It's from f-cking kindergarten.

Have. Some. Consideration.

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

I am picking up what you are putting down. Same with "thumbs up" in certain countries, too.

Pointing. If you point in Mediterranean cultures you might as well lift the guy's kid sister's skirt and have a look.

mookie, no! I only meant it as an illustration!

Yeah. I mean I get it that Dukes of Hazard is not racist and was never intended to be seen as such (I used to have a dukes lunchbox as a kid I loved that show!) and for its time it is fine. BUT we dont live then now and if it does bother some suck it up and deal. It isnt like it is 12 people online biotching about something the symbol is seen as offensive by a very large group of subjugated people. That is the society we live in now and you just need to adapt.

It isnt like Dukes is banned from TV or anything (it is on a lot from what I have seen) so it isnt being censored.

The swastika is a symbol of peace ALL OVER THE WORLD! My girlfriend loves talking about the monasteries she has seen in Asia where there are more swastikas than Indian Heads in Ralph Engelstad Arena. Take those symbols to Europe and they mean something completely different post WW2. That may not be the intention, but that is the reality.

Especially when it comes to artistic ventures...perception matters. Perceptions can change with the times though. As such we need to do so as well.

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

Or you just do the right thing and quietly paint a murica flag on top instead of, you know, complaining that people are offended. I thought rednecks love freedom and murica. I didn't realize the only thing they loved more was anti-america.

Wait...

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

It's all in the context.

Some MAGA waving the flag at a demonstration? That's a pretty clear message.
A flag painted on a car, in a non-racist show, that teaches morals and values and doing the right thing? That's a different message about what they think of the flag.

And I haven't seen a rerun of Dukes since this all started, I do know they did remove the flag from all merchandise going forward. Dunno if they edited the flag off the car in the reruns being shown now or not.

Edit: in the Dukes "world," the flag does not represent what others think it represents, therefore, let it be.

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

Yes, but in the real world, you know the one we live in, you might as well have a burning cross on the car.

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

And you know, the fake world where the Dukes are, people might let it go because it's a FICTIONAL STORY, as well as the previously said context of said story.

Re: Movies 51 - Rise of the Frozen Joker: Chapter II: Dark Fate

Jesus Christ. I only jokingly advocate for Disney to release Song of the South, but even *I* realize how terrible the stereotype of the times were in that film and why it will never see the light of day again.
