Movie Thread #50: Godzilla gives us permission to nuke our enemies

You already know if you remember this.

I assume Fred Rogers was so awesome even Hanks can't ruin his memory.

This gives me a great idea, though. I would love it if Hanks made a Bob Hope biopic. They make my skin crawl in exactly the same way. Hanks is lazy but he can do interesting things when his director forces him at gunpoint. He could maybe make a Hope portrayal interesting. An unwitting "inside look" at what a mawkish retreat from initial talent does to a man.

It's either him or Leno.

I just heard today that qanon has tried to start a conspiracy theory that Hanks is a pedo? I guess I missed this when it came out.

I saw Toy Story 4...can Disney just officially change their name to "Blatant Cash Grab" and be done with it please? Good lord...

The movie was ok but completely worthless and ruined the ending of Toy Story 3.

(yes I know I am whining about a Pixar film...get over yourself your tastes arent much better :D )

Of course you did...it was boring and lacked any real emotion or story. Hell half the cast literally arent in it. Outside of Forky it stunk. Oh and Duke Caboom.

Disagreeing with you on matters of taste makes me feel joy and relief. It's like finding out I don't root for the same team as El Chapo.

He's been in all of them. Voice work is different. I don't have to see his fatuous, fat face.

Hey! It's not fat in Philadelphia, or half of Cast Away.

I take that as a compliment considering the crap you admit to liking ;) As I said before even Hipsters find your opinions ridiculous :D

Another thing going for me. Which is nice.

People so threatened by others' tastes they accuse them of "using them big words" and "pretending to like high brow stuff when you really like the same low stuff as everybody else" doesn't tell me anything about the movies being considered. As with Dump, they tell me about the fragility of their own ego.

Don't sweat it, Handy. I would never refuse a drink with you because of your movie taste.

I wouldn't drink with you anyway.

I Can't Think Straight: set in London, this Muslim who's a lesbian meets a Jordanian woman engaged to be married. They meet and fall in love. One night, they make passionate love. The Muslim comes out to her family; the father and sister are okay while the mother says daughter will burn in hell. The Jordanian woman, based in London, eventually flies home to tell her family. Yes, they get married.

Good movie. Explores political and social issues without being too forceful about it.

Hey, I take issue with anyone that says that Lady And The Tramp isn't the best Disney movie ever. I said ever. (yeah, I'm actually serious) :)

The Great Hack:

Documentary on the Cambridge Analytica story, with more than a dash on Facebook. The Data Wars. 10 years ago, another documentary called "We Live In Public" came out, and one quote stood out to me: Everything is free, except for the footage captured...THAT...we own.

Now magnify that quote to what the internet is today. Yeah.

Highly recommend both docs. Link to the We Live In Public trailer below:

You're thinking of Gay Purr-ee and it wasn't Disney. Lady and the Tramp sucks.

The best Disney movie ever is Snow F-cking White. Nothing is close. Sleeping F-cking Beauty is place, 31 lengths off. The Little F-cking Mermaid is show but by then it's noise.
