Reported that Donaldson finally signed with the Twins. 4 yrs.

Holy shut.

Like people are mentioning elsewhere, they appear to be fine winning games 12-11.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

Also, Nelson Cruz is going to be 40 in June. When does the bottom drop out for him?

And it won't matter when the games matter.
They can't slug their way to a title with their pitching.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

I would not be surprised to see OPS/Slugging rise in the next few years, thanks to analytics. Teams are out to get 1-2 ace pitchers (per usual), but they are redefining the game with batting: out, walk, K, HR. No more small ball. No working to get a run in, no more singles hitters/bunting. It will pretty much get to that point.

One bat has a bad night, you have eight others to pick you up. That night.

Your pitcher had a bad night and he’s done for five days. AND you have to burn other resources.

**** pitching. Starting pitching is dead.

Pretty much.

'Member when everyone was making fun of slow-pitch softball? ;)

Twins stealing signs also ;)

And then they play the Yankees in the playoffs... :D

You did watch the World Series, right, the one in which the two teams who had two or three dominant starting pitchers each faced off against one another?

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

As I saw on Twitter a day or two ago, with the scandal surrounding sign stealing in Houston and Boston, the Dodgers got to watch *both* teams celebrate their World Series victories at Dodger Stadium...

:D

Well yeah, that’s the obvious exception. If a team can somehow cobble together three pitchers who don’t have a bad night in seven games.

Either way, win 100 games and you’re in the playoffs. You can worry about those games in late July. Anything can happen once you’re in.

If the Sox stealing signs was so effective, it would have been nice for them to deploy it during that marathon 18 inning game! Could have ended it in the 10th or 11th...

Then again, in the following game after that idiot Puig started dancing around the basepaths like he'd just won the WS after a HR, Moreland was sitting on a fat change up and blasted it 450 feet to make it a 4-3 game. Hmmmm...

Except it cant if you cant pitch. This isnt the NCAA basketball tournament you cant just rely on a hot hitter to take you all the way. If you give up 6 runs a game you will lose most of those games.

The Twins are built to be just good enough to make the playoffs but nowhere near good enough to win them. The regular season is going to be entertaining as hell but everyone knows where it will lead if they dont get at least 2 quality starters. You dont beat WS caliber teams in the playoffs with Jake Odirizzi and Jose Berrios as your #1 and #2. sure you can in July but in October...yeah no.

Mendoza: Whistleblowing makes me sad for the sport

No, not what the whistle blowing uncovered, the actual act itself.

Re: MLB 2019 and Beyond: Something Something Three True Outcomes....

This is actually an important day in gender equity. We have reached The Moment when a woman has exactly the same opportunity to make a complete fool of herself as a man. And I am proud to be an American.

Golic can be pretty sharp. Did he give it to her or did he play the nice in-house stooge.

Also: Spartan, excellent Location. Never noticed that before.
