I thought the Metropolitans were playing the Highlanders this weekend?
However, on the local front, Strasburg is on the DL with a shoulder inflammation.
Jose Reyes was just part of what should have been a routine DP. He missed the bag, and threw it away. Mets.
ETA: The Mets proceed to get out of the inning. Not Mets.
Interesting result. Reyes missed the bag for the force and then threw wildly. Original call on the field was out at second, so with the force you can't charge Jose with an error at first. But when they reversed the call at second they now (correctly) charge Jose with two errors on the missed bag and the throw.
So one call results in him going from 0 to 2 errors.
Ohtani need TJ surgery. Might be out until 2020.
AGon is gone from the Mets
The Mets are the first team to shutout the Yankees. Last team to be shutout this season.
All sports are entertainment. One thing that got mentioned to me as I started to get serious about soccer refereeing was “the minute you start asking people to pay to watch you’re no longer in sports, you’re in the entertainment industry.”
Interesting thing is, Toronto shutout the Yankees for 12 innings. But because the Yankees won in 13, 3-0, it's not considered a shutout. (I was there, BTW.)
I get that. I have no problem with that (it's like a goalie who losses 1-0 in triple overtime), but technically, what Toronto did is greater than what the Mets did.
