Hanley can't play 2B and wasn't hitting either. Him coming back wouldn't solve anything.

When did the gophers last host the Wheaties Tournament? Good baseball--usually included some of the top college teams, and one year we got to see the Cuban National team participate (don't ask how long ago).

Stanford loses to Fullerton Saturday night on a 2-out bottom-of-the-9th solo HR but beats Baylor today. So they Fullerton in a few minutes, down a game.

Gophers are on to the Supers. Looks like they'll be going to Corvallis.

Columbia, winner of the 2018 Ivy tournament, did not get a bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. I thought we were an auto bid conference? Anybody know when that changed?

Edit: nm, they lost to Florida 13-5 in Gainsville. I guess the qualifier is single elim.

It's double elim. They lost to Florida Atlantic the next day.

Fun was had. Oh, the horror.

Reminds me of a clip that always used to get played on the sports blooper reels in the 70s. I remember Norm Cash was the hitter, don't recall the first baseman, maybe Bob Robertson, but it was a friend of his. Little bouncer down the line to first, 1B picks up the ball in front of the bag and starts walking towards Cash. Cash stops dead. They laugh for a second, then the 1B tosses the ball to the pitcher and Cash, confused, walks the remaining few feet and stands on first.

Softball actually has a rule against that. Runner is out once they stop actively going for the base.
