12 years? I remember it like it was yesterday. Man, time flies.

Twelve years since their last post season win. They were in the playoffs in 2007 and 2008, but swept both times, by the Diamondbacks and Dodgers respectively.

Cubs-Cards meeting in the playoffs for the first time. I'll take it.

Lester will go twice, Arrieta once, and then probably Hendricks and Hammel once each. Get one win from Lester, one from Arrieta, and one from the other two. I like their chances.

Still....can't believe it was that long ago. I remember watching all the games before my roommate (and our respective gfs) hit the town.

Well, if you have Cubs NLDS tickets, you just hit the winning numbers on Little Lotto...

Nah, this is like hitting 3 of the 6 numbers in Powerball. NLDS tickets are a couple hundred bucks right now. NLCS tickets are about double that.

Season ticket holders won't hit the lotto til the W.S. - cheapest tickets for that right now are already $2500. And that's only gonna go up. Unfortunately beyond my price range by about a grand or so.

A couple of my buddies have season tickets. They're selling all their playoff tickets except for the potential game 3 of the W.S. (which would be the first W.S. game at Wrigley since '45).

Didn't see it, but I read this morning that Arrieta stole second on the first pitch after the HBP. Dam! I suppose he could have caught a spike and hurt himself, but you gotta love Maddon.

What a coincidence that I'm working from home today, and the first game starts in the afternoon. :)

I had never heard her, or even of her. I thought she was fantastic -- they could have just fired the other two yahoos, in particular that herpa-derp Kruk.

ESPN has sucked for 15 years and she's their first worthwhile new talent in 20. What kind of moron didn't like her?

The kind of moron that says they don't want to hear a woman talk about baseball and/or she couldn't possibly know anything because she played softball and not baseball. These people existed before the internet, but their stupidity was not out there for everyone to see on social media.

Chris Archer was really good too.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

Archer just needs to get comfortable with the setting. A lot of "umms" his first time out.

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

I loved it Tuesday when Archer addressed Mendoza as "ma'am." Props to him and his parents.

He also called Shulman "sir". Just seemed like a generally thoughtful, polite player with some good insight.

Anyone notice that the Marlin fan is back behind home plate for every postseason game? He was in New York on Tuesday and then in Pittsburgh last night. I doubt he will be in Toronto today but I bet he will be in KC tonight. :)

Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

having to burn Arrieta tonight is going to bite the Cubs

I just hope it isn't as disastrous as it was in 1984 when for some inexplicable, idiotic, #$*%_&%^! reason, Jim Frey let Rick Sutcliffe pitch a complete game shutout in game one, even though the Cubs were up 13 - 0 in the 6th inning. Sure enough, Sutcliffe was gassed by the sixth inning in his second start, he couldn't hold the lead, and the Cubs lost to #$*@$*&! Steve Garvey and the Padres no less.

113 pitches for Arrieta last night. yet supposedly the Cubs have one of baseball's best bullpens.

stole it standing up unchallenged. Pirates didn't even cover the base.

I was more concerned that the flyball would drop and he'd try to score and there'd be a close play at the plate.

He'll be fine. He's been pitching complete games since August and will be going on normal rest for game 3.

Vin Scully underwent a medical procedure and will miss the rest of the postseason. Not exactly sure what he announces in the postseason since everything is national broadcast (maybe some radio?) but nonetheless, he's out.

I have a feeling if they make it to the Series he'll be back for some limited action, though.

He probably would've done the Dodgers games if nothing else. Not sure if ESPN contracted with him to do any national broadcasts.

Mr. Kershaw and Mr. deGrom are putting on a pitching clinic.

So I'm conflicted on the cleanness of the slide itself, but how was Utley called safe of review? Isn't that the definition of the neighborhood play?
