Re: MLB 2015 - Meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

OK - my post isn't specifically about baseball, but ... Somebody asked me this question because I did attend Michigan State hockey games in the late 90's. However, I do not remember where it was MSU was on the road playing to an empty rink (was it Western Michigan or was it Ferris State?) due to an outbreak of some contagion. Anybody remember this?

I'm only posting this here because of the hot topic of the day, the bizarre situation in Baltimore with the two baseball teams playing in an empty stadium.

I don't know about that one, but could the contagion have been measles? Late 80's there was a measles outbreak that caused Siena and Hartford to play in an empty arena.

Kind of eerie seeing Jimenez warmup and just green seats everywhere in the stands and no noise.

/insert Rays joke here

So they have a PA announcer and a ball girl.... I think it would be better if there were still vendors walking up and down with beer and cotton candy.

Supposedly one of the players went out and signed invisible autographs.

The "home" series down in Tampa will be GA tickets ($15 Fri and Sun, $18 Sat) all for the lower level. I'd guess it could be the best crowd all year for the Rays ;)

Major league record of six paid attendance, currently held by the Worcester (MA) Worcesters [creative name for a team :)] could fall today.

According to the record books, the lowest paid attendance at a baseball game was six spectators at a game played in Worcester on Sept. 28, 1882. John Thorn, Major League Baseball’s official historian, said there wasn’t much reason to attend the game: The weather was bad, both teams were bad, and the National League had just decided to disband them.

Orioles game ends in 2 hours. And it was 8-2... Maybe the fans have been slowing the game down the whole time?

Hold up a minute. The Astros have a 7 game lead already?!?

I'm curious about why it was so short. What did they do differently? Was there a PA announcer? Do cheering fans delay things? Normally, my first guess would be between-innings promotions, etc - but not with the new clocks.

There was only 1 inning with a lot of scoring, the 1st. There was a PA announcer, walk up music, and 7th inning stretch.

Less incredibly when you see the video and it just being the result of one incompetent base runner and one caught off guard.

Line drives will do that to ya as a base runner...

Jason Heyward is a moron. Had Heyward about faced the worst they would have had was a double play with Molina on third.

Former Cardinals are not immune this week to stupidity on the basepaths...

Would have made for an entertaining This Week In Baseball...
