Josh Hamilton to the Rangers for either Cash or PTBNL is official.

Angels are paying nearly all of his remaining contract value. So this was not a baseball personnel move. It was a we don't want this person around move.

It was also a "I want to be in Texas" move because he wanted to be close to his support network. He vetoed a trade to another team because he wanted to be back in Arlington.

Update on the Orioles homestand:

- White Sox vs Orioles will be tomorrow at 2:05 pm. CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.
- The 2 missed games with the White Sox will be a doubleheader on May 28th.
- The next series vs the Rays will be played in Tampa, but the Orioles will be the home team.

I wonder if the Wednesday game will still have TV coverage. I'd assume so.

...and they'll still have better attendance than the Rays...

Why not move the Rays series to Washington? Or are they afraid that's still too close to Baltimore?

Isn't there a slight dispute over territory between the Nationals and Orioles? I'm not sure having the O's play in Washington would be a good idea.

Eh, the Yankees played at Shea back in the day.

Although, speaking about territorial disputes, the Cubs were rumored to possibly play home games in Milwaukee this year if Wrigley went way off schedule, while US Cellular was never even an option. I thought that was weird. Sure, it's rival fans, but is shipping 90 miles up the coast of Lake MI easier than heading to the South Side?

It looks like tomorrows Orioles game is MLB.TV game of the day (i.e. free to watch).

If I recall, it was sponsorship issues. And the Brewers actually put together a proposal for the Cubs to utilize Miller Park and were flat out told by the Cubs that they would not vacate Wrigley during the renovations.

...
MLB has done this before; during the G8 summit in Toronto, they swapped the series with whoever the Blue Jays were supposed to play (the Red Sox if I recall), and Toronto was the home team in Boston.

I think that MLB reimburses the flip flopped team in some capacity. I could be completely remembering that wrong though.

I do think MLB does some re-working/reimbursement. I remember those situations as well.
