After this, the Giants will probably win 2-1 tomorrow night.

And that wouldn't be a bad thing. What a great series. Too bad the ratings likely won't reflect that though.

True. A couple routs, but the final W-L back and forth....great series.

I said to my wife just before the game started last night, "I hope the Royals score about 9 runs in the first 3 innings so I can go to bed at a decent time."

Eastern time zone sucks for prime time sporting events. Everything goes to midnight! So, thanks KC!

I'll stay up till end for game 7 if its competitive.

Re: MLB 2014: I paid the $20 mil posting fee for the right to start this thread

I think I just heard he's starting tomorrow.

I'd consider starting him. Seriously. It's game 7. He'll pitch anyway if he's needed. But where would you rather use him, in the 5th or 6th if your starter falters? Or take your chances with him starting? Mayo Smith had McLain and Lolich both start on 2 days rest in '68 and that worked out just fine for Detroit. The way Bumgarner has pitched in the post season, I'd take him at about 75% before I'd take anyone else. The dude has a Bob Gibson-like post season ERA this year of 1.13 and a Bob Gibson on steroids whip of 0.67. When it started going south last night I'd have told him "game 7 is yours" and he'd have 24 hours to prepare. Plus, he's a starter and his game day routine would be familiar. He has just one post season relief appearance and has been a starter for his entire major league career, save for a couple of regular season trots from the bullpen as a rookie.

Hudson vs. Guthrie

Even better, he has almost the exact same dominant numbers John Tudor had in the 1985 World Series for the Cardinals, and Tudor came back and started for a third time in game 7. What could go wrong?

Has anyone noticed the Marlin fan that sits behind home plate at all of the Royals playoff games? He was even in SF too. I wonder what his story is.:)

They did a bit of a story on him earlier in the series. He gave up his seat in SF to the military personnel who sang at the game.

Tudor wasn't quite lights out in the '85 postseason like Bumgarner has been throughout the 2014 postseason and the Cardinals were probably a little unfocused going into a game they thought never should have been needed.

KC fans standing for the 1st inning. Nice.

They also had somebody with musical talent sing the anthem.

Joe Maddon is apparently headed to the Cubs.
