Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I'll still take this weather over hot and humid. This isn't nearly as miserable as that ****.

100% in agreement. If it's over 80 with any humidity in the air, it's too hot for me (unless I'm in the lake or lounging at the cabin). I also like that after a cold snap like this 15 degrees feels like a comfortable day to go outside and get some skiing in.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Starting a couple years ago, I never take overly hot days for granted any more.

Couldn't agree more.

Do they plow in this state anymore? They had all night last night and nothing was clear this morning.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I don't care if they've plowed or not, the lack of ability of people to be able to drive decently is absurd. Yesterday we saw 9, NINE!! cars in the ditch driving to the airport, then to OC and back home. Not accidents, just cars driving into the ditch. I don't care if there is snow on the road or if it is icy, learn to ****ing drive, and not drive 15 miles per hour either, because that is just as bad. Some people should just have their licenses taken away.

It's treacherous out there. I think I know how to drive in the snow cause I've been doing it for a long time and usually in horrible cars for it and it's not easy. Some of the vehicles they make nowadays like what I'm driving are just awful in these conditions.

Took my first actual ice pack nose dive today after many close calls. Cub parking lot bag full of groceries...flying everywhere. I'll take the hot weather any day when you can at least walk without the strong likelihood of ending up on your a s s.

If you live in an area prone to getting snow, ice, slush and whatever else winter throws at you and you don't have a vehicle that can handle those types of conditions, then you would be stupid.

I have a vehicle that can handle these conditions, and to be fair, the conditions still sucked up until today. Patches of ice (not black ice) on an interstate today? Not acceptable. The DOT didn't do their jobs as well as in the past. I was not happy about that.

Correct. For example, we saw what looked to be a 16 year old girl that put her Mustang into a ditch on Sunday. If you give your 16 year old a MUSTANG in MINNESOTA, in the WINTER, you deserve to have to pay for towing fees. Idiots.

I won't give MNDOT too hard of a time. Who knows why they didn't get it all cleared. It isn't an easy job, once snow is packed, it is **** near impossible to get rid of in this cold. And if what it takes to get the roads perfect is more funding for MNDOT, forget that. We give this state too much money as it is, I can deal with a little snow and ice, we live in Minnesota after all.

Some people have been griping to St. Paul about their bad snow removal process this year. The city is now reviewing and revising how they go about clearing the streets and updating some of their equipment. I don't know all the details behind it, only what the news promo said last night.

All vehicles handle the same on ice. In fact it's usually the nutjobs who have a false sense of security in their SUV that end up in the ditch cause I think different. For snow, yeah it would be way better to have a better vehicle. You buy what you can afford.

People say this often....but I don't see it. I mentioned earlier that I saw 9 cars in the ditch on Sunday. 9 cars, 0 SUVs, 0 trucks.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

I've seen plenty of SUVs in ditches.

For cruising in bad conditions, give me front wheel drive every time over 4x4.

If I gotta get through a pile, a drift or deep stuff, only then do I want 4x4.

Having driven both of the above in bad conditions (along with light rear end, rear wheel drive - the worst), I'll stick with the full time symmetrical all-wheel drive in my Subarus.

Re: Minnesotans Still Arguing About the Weather...

Vehicles ending up in the ditch has a lot more to do with the driver than it does the vehicle. I'd say it's about 50/50 cars/SUV's. I do see more people with SUV's driving like morons in bad conditions than in cars though...
