Minnesotans Arguing About the Weather III: Storm's a comin'

I'm optimistically hoping that anything that survived the derecho down here last year will do fine today, especially since all the leaves have dropped so less surface area to catch the winds. So hopefully it won't be too bad in my neck of the woods.

Good thinking here. Me too.

So far this has been a big dud. There's a line of storms that should move through in an hour or two as the cold front pushes through, but the sustained 50+ mph winds all day never materialized. Probably 25 mph or so with gusts up to 40, which is called a normal day.

We just lost power, but so far this has just been a normal thunderstorm (as much as one can be in the middle of freaking December), maybe with slightly above average winds.

All calm here, temp has dropped at 20 degrees in the last hour, though.

Power was out for an hour. When it came back on, something had tripped 8 breakers in the circuit box. Good to know they worked.

Currently 60*F-ish in the Chicago Burbs with sustained winds in the 30-35mph range with gusts hitting 50 mph...

Winds have picked up in the last 15 minutes or so here. Seems like these are the winds they were warning about all day. Seem like sustained 40 mph+ based on the sound.

Mainly run of the mill thunderstorms in the Twin Cities, just an odd time of year. A few reports of 85 mph winds in SE Minnesota. Also a confirmed tornado down there, Minnesota's first recorded December tornado.

Projected low for NoVa Wednesday: 9 (All-time low, 8.)

Maybe the Bumblefucks will all drop off their trees like gekkos?
