Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: Secondary Rivalry, Just As Much Hatred

Will we see a shut out by Patterson this weekend?
Tough to say, sconnie is scoring 3.3gpm and they have been able to put a couple 5 and 6 spots on some decent teams. If I had to guess I'd say no shutout this weekend, but hey I didn't think I'd see a shutout against sue last weekend either.:D

I hear they are coming out with a deer replica for Wisconsin.

More often then not, it works out just fine ;)

Agreed. If you've got to go that far back to find something, we're doing okay. That also means 2 more titles before something like that would happen again, right? I'm okay with that.

So you also hang you hat on UND's favorite accomplishment?

One of our favorites, no doubt. But Sioux fans have seven accomplishments that are more favored. Back when we had only five, we felt, well . . . second tier, you know? About the time you reach six, you begin to feel legit.

We've felt legit for the past 91 years ;)

IFor UW:

-Who cares?

I think special teams will be a huge edge to the rodents. UW's pk isn't very good, allowing a 31% coversion rate, the pp isn't very good either, though it's at 20%, which isn't too bad statistically. The rodents also have an advantage at the sieve position as well. I'm not very familiar with the rodent's experience @ F & D, but UW young and not very experienced past the top F line and top 3 d. That being said, just when you think this team is going to suck, they totally surprise.

I agree on the special teams being a Gopher advantage, but the Gophers are also currently the most penalized team in the WCHA. They need to avoid the stupid penalties. It cost them a game already, and almost cost them again last weekend.

Gophers are young too, especially defensively. They have no senior defensemen, and only one Junior. Offensively, their top line is comprised of a freshman and two sophomores (Budish with a medical red shirt). Their second and third lines are comprised of a senior, a sophomore, and a freshman. Not quite as young as UW, but young none-the-less.

However, I think the Gopher's biggest advantage is their scoring depth. They have really been able to wear teams out this year, and our fourth line was arguably our best line this past weekend.

Easy for you to say--you Gopher fans have never experienced the pressure of having to count past five.

Its pretty simple, there are 6 championship banners hanging from the rafters at Mariucci. But we do apologize to any program or fans of said program that was nonexistant prior to those days, so when asked how many championships do the Gophers have, I reply 6.. I mean we are talking a collegiate sport sport... Not sure what the education system in Wisconsin is teaching kids these days..

But I keep forgetting the rules, maybe you can refresh my memory. "If ya live in Wisconsin the number of "championships" all depends on wether or not it works in your favor.. I think thats it in a nutshell, am I close?

Really? Because you sure do seem to cling to that one.

Well, to be fair, it is one of the all-time crap yourselves moments ever in college hockey. At the time they were calling it the biggest upset in the history of the tourney and I believe that it still holds that distinction. The fact that it happened to quite possibly the most arrogant fanbase only makes it that much more delicious.

I still think it's funny although I don't get as giddy about it as I did when it first happened.

You guys are still talking floods, paint thinner and deer, so the Sioux and us can still talk Holy Cross. And which amongst those is actually related to hockey? Hmmm...
