Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I forgot about him! So we have 3 major league caliber catchers, and Butera? I wonder if we can get a good bullpen arm for Morales...

Not with the injury issues he's going through right now.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

hmmmm, how will they explain sending down Wilson Ramos now?

Easy. Bill Smith addressed this today before the game.

If he comes up here he'll sit on the bench and won't get any ABs to develop, unless mauer is out long term. They wanted a defensive catcher up here anyways. Butera is pretty much as good as he'll get offensively, but he's pretty good defensively.

Additionally, Ramos hit a wall in AAA. Heck, Morales had a huge game his first game back. One big game means nothing. They'd rather see him get the developmental ABs at AAA. Especially if Mauer is day-to-day.

I'm thinking Baker would be better at middle relief. He can't pitch more than 3 innings without blowing up.

This might not be a bad idea. At least for a little bit--it seems a number of his problems might be mental issues, too. Dick and Bert were talking earlier about Anderson calling him out a bit in keeping his focus. A stint in the pen could help that...

Can Ramos play third?
He's not going to be used as a pinch runner. ;)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: The Return of Outdoor Baseball

I can't remember the twins ever having four competent catchers at one time.
