Minnesota State @ RPI - 10/7/11

Re: Minnesota State @ RPI - 10/7/11

I guess it doesn't quite rate an , but still, having heard so much about Curadi, I have to confess that I'm a bit surprised to see his name on the scratch list.

Re: Minnesota State @ RPI - 10/7/11

Will Justin Smith, as an assistant captain, be standing behind the bench tonight? I remember seeing Brutlag standing behind the bench during the @ Colgate game last year.

We've heard about his size and physicality. It would not surprise me if he were to play the bruiser games (CCT, Cornell, Union) and stay in the stands for some of the other games, similar to how Justin Smith has been playing.

I like that bash brother line of Tinordi-Malchuk-Rabbani :D I must have missed what happened to Rogic, is he injured?

Re: Minnesota State @ RPI - 10/7/11

Doc:

Appert said on Schott's radio segment that Merriam should be good to go. Because the goalies would almost surely split the weekend regardless of health, I assume we'll see Merriam on Saturday. All else being equal, it makes sense to give him the slight bit of extra rest.

Knowing a bit about the Merriam 'injury' I will not be surprised to see him play but would have just thought one more weekend off would stand him in better condition for the long season ahead. Coach SA obviously has this figured out and if he says Bryce is good to go, then so be it.

That line of TMR will definitely make it's presence felt. Those are 3 hitters. It just appears this year we have so much more depth than we have had in a long time.

Luke will get his chances-but if you look at the 3 pairs for tonight-who would you sit right now? There will be nights i suspect that SA dresses 7 defensemen. It isn't usually his style but against some teams it seems prudent.

I'm not surprised at all. I think he's (fairly) starting the year as our #7 defenseman. He certainly has the potential and will have the opportunity to move up the depth chart, but you have to start somewhere and this is, in my view, undoubtedly the correct starting point.

Maybe HOKYDAD is coach's alter ego.

I'm not surprised at all. 5 upperclassmen and the more highly ranked freshman recruit. Don't let all the drooling over size on these boards lead you astray. Skating is the most important aspect of hockey. That said... if Mankato hits as much as I've heard, I expect Luke will be watching closely tonight and writing down numbers for when he is in there tomorrow night.

Not his style? I'd say in at least a quarter of the games last year he dressed an extra defensemen. Granted I can't remember how many forwards were "healthy scratches" vs. injury...

3/4 of the time it was not his style.;) But this involves some math and you know my feeling about that.:)

Will I be able to count on you guys for solid updates tonight? I'm going to be out and about as I'm visiting my high school for their Homecoming Football game, I'll have the thread on my phone.

RPI score threads are borderline OCD. I'm sure you'll get multiple updates for every penalty and goal. :p WaP typically also live tweets all games @without_a_peer.

I figured as you guys have a pretty strong contingent on the boards, but just had to make sure:)

OCD is an understatement. The 60-minute clock hasn't even started and we're already up to 2 nearly full pages.

mackek2, not sure if you're monitoring the boards, but you need to make a different choice for your Saturday pick. Dorr is the top scoring forward for the Landcows.

And, MavHockey, you also have to make a change. You have til 6PM central.
