Minnesota State Offseason 2022: Rebuild or reload?

Aamodt was everything you'd want in a leader, Smith made the top line go, Lutz and Napravnik gave us a heckuva PP, and Dryden was Dryden, every game for 4 years. You don't replace that easily, if at all. But, there's a lot of potential there. Just like last year, the early schedule could be brutal, but we'll know where our strengths and opportunities are right away.
In Hastings we trust!

I'm interested to see what Pavel, Livingstone and Hirose do now. I think we have a lot of talent that will show up when given the opportunity

Every time I've thought they've lost too much to graduation or pros, Coach Hastings has proved me wrong. So I expect them to be just fine.

Me too. I worried about a downturn after the 2020 and the 2021 seasons ended only to see them achieve even more. So here I am summer of 2022, with the same thoughts rolling thru my head. Its not easy to make the Frozen Four 3 consecutive years but thinking another NCAA tournament bid should be achievable. I'm betting all the returning players have their sights set higher than that.

The program standard now is an NCAA tournament bid at bare minimum so long as Hastings is in Mankato. Lots needs to happen to win games there, as we are all aware, but getting there in the league they play in and with the talent they have consistently brought in is the standard.

I’d be shocked if this team is as good as last year’s, and it will surely be different, but Mike Hastings has proven he knows what he’s doing and how to bring players in that fit the culture and excel the longer the stay in the program.

In addition to the other names mentioned here, I’m hopeful we see a healthy Bennett Zmolek. He’s got a chance to be a star — he’s easily the most talent of the three Zmolek kids which is saying something.

A bit early to start this but what the heck: I plan to be in Arizona for the ASU series in January. (My niece conveniently lives in Scottsdale, 2.2 miles from the new ice arena). Could any of you ID someone in Mankato who might be going out there, or might be a de facto group leader e.g., Blue line club VIP, perhaps? I would think a winter getaway would be on the minds of more than a few Mav fans, and I'd like to be a part of any MSU events while I'm there. I live in Wisconsin so I'm not in the primary information loop.

Thanks, and Go Mavs!

I'm going, but I'm staying with a sister in Peoria, which is almost as far from Tempe as Peoria, Illinois is. But I would like to hear about any goings-on in the area.

Does anyone have tips on how to watch the Mavericks vs Gophers game this weekend? I have flo hockey tv, but I'm not sure those are being shown. I thought previously all home games were shown on flohockey (even if it is a non-CCHA game), but I am not seeing that to be the case this year.

Yeah, the Saturday game isn't listed on FloHockey. One of the KEYC stations is supposed to be carrying all home games. I just checked the listings for the KEYC CBS, NBC, and Fox channels, and it's not there. Maybe the CW, but I don't get that one. The Friday game at Mariucci is on Bally Sports North.

After a split with the Gophers and sweeping Duluth to start the season, I'm more optimistic about the program reloading. With Zmolek still out, freshmen defensemen Chichosz and Wheeler have stepped in effectively. And while McKay won't be easily replaced, Rancier and Tracy have shown they're more than capable when the team plays their style of defense.
