Minnesota State Mankato Offseason Thread. Do we need one? Oops, here we go.

Re: Minnesota State Mankato Offseason Thread. Do we need one? Oops, here we go.

Yeah, Warroad, Roseau, Duluth East and Moorhead are really the only schools up there that still produce quite a few quality players. Hibbing, Greenway, International Falls, etc. just can't sustain it anymore. Grand Rapids is in between those groups a bit.

The only school that really seems to be trending upwards is Hermantown, and I don't think many of them would end up in Mankato or Bemidji.

They still play good hockey and other schools still produce good players, just not at the rate they use too. There isn't a team in the WCHA who won't love to have Drew Leblanc and last I checked he is from Hermantown. There are also many other examples of good players from that region. If Mankato can land them is another story.....

NMU Football travels to Mankato this Thursday to take on the Landcows.

Only three weeks until the exhibition opener against British Columbia. Season tickets should be arriving in the mail any day. Time to drop the puck is just around the corner!

I just lost a bet... I bet my buddy there wouldn't be more than 88 people who gave a crap about Mankato State Hockey... dammit...

Attended USCHO showcase last week, was told by people that Berge's younger brother and Mankato have parted ways. Multiple coaches in both WCHA and CCHA were contacting his junior coaches wondering if it was true. Confirmed this week by reporter in Lincoln paper.

Too be fair, my post was about Mankato State Football at the time, so yeah, you should have won that bet technically. ;)
The school hasn't been Mankato State since 1998.

Could have fooled me. Still say if you really wanted the name change to stick, should have dropped the Maverick and gone with Screaming Eagles..... ;)
