Minnesota State @ Lake Superior State: Is U.P. short for Upset?

Kato coming off a terrific weekend in the UP, and now heads back to try for more points. LSSU started slow, but is 3-2 over its last 5. Can the Mavericks match the intensity level they brought last weekend, or is this the dreaded "trap" that sports announcers and unsuccessful bettors like to talk about?

For the Mavs, Jean Paul Lafontaine seemed to find his game last weekend with a trip back to his home state, and hopes to continue that this week. Stephon Williams also brought back some long-dormant skill.

Laker fans, are you starting to like what you're seeing of Whitten and his system? Optimistic for this weekend and the rest of the season?

Yes, but it's a work in progress. Completely different style of play, playing 4-5 freshmen D every series, playing freshmen goalies every series. There will be a lot of struggles this season but hopefully there will be noticeable improvement as the season progresses. It won't be until next season that we really start to see Whitten's recruits, especially on offense.

This series makes me nervous. For the Mavs, 4pts are needed this weekend to keep pace with Tech. Lake State can not be overlooked, or last weekend's sweep could mean very little. I do believe LSSU's program is on the rise, but they are a year or two away from competing for the McNaughton.
