Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

I think most people have a computer or a phone. The games are streamed on watchND, not that difficult to watch really.

And about what percentage of Gopher game viewers know that? And what percent of those will go through the trouble? And that says nothing about being forced to watch a bad stream...on your phone?

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

I was hoping one of the Fox College Sports networks would pick it up. Last weekend they televised both Gopher-UND womens' games.

I's really not that difficult to swing over to GPL and take a look at the schedule page that Jupiter has created. He has all the games listed with the TV, streaming, and radio options listed. otherwise you can take a look in the series thread over on GPL as well and posters over there pretty much do the streaming/TV research for you LOL!

Game notes from Gophersports:

http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/110415aaa.html

Gopher Hockey returns to action this weekend with a nonconference series at No. 18 Notre Dame. The series kicks off on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT with the finale set for Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. CT.

The Maroon & Gold boast a 26-14-3 all-time record against Notre Dame including a 4-1-0 mark over the last three years. Coincidentally, the Gophers didn't even play the Irish in their last trip to South Bend with Minnesota defeating Minnesota Duluth and RPI to win the 2014 Ice Breaker Tournament at Compton Family Ice Arena. Gophers coach Don Lucia is a Notre Dame alum, having played defense for the Irish from 1977-81 with 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) in 124 games. Lucia's youngest son, Mario, is a senior forward for the Irish while associate head coach Mike Guentzel's son, Ryan, played for Notre Dame from 2007-11.

Maybe if this was 2009 or so, technology has come a long way and most (yes even those not on these boards) know how to use a stream. If you have a flip phone then maybe you have a point, otherwise it's just belly aching.

Go Gophers!

I'd rather watch this on TV. But I'm not talking about you. Not talking about me. I'm talking about the other thousands of Gopher fans that won't have the opportunity to watch the game because they don't know. I don't share the 'screw everyone else that hasn't heard of GPL' attitude.

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

FWIW, the StarTribune paper edition is showing the following:

ASN*
*Gophers-Notre Dame game should be available over-the-air (23.3), on Comcast (253 or 211), on DirectTV (665) or Dish Network (429).

However the game is not showing up on my (Comcast) channel guide on either of these channels. My plan is to check them at 6:30, and if the game is not on I'll watch the stream.

I know in the past the games wouldn't show up until just before puck drop on alternate channels like the one they are using tonight. So it may show up and become "live" right at 6:30pm. We'll see, but yeah streaming is an option too.

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Did the watch ND link get posted somewhere? (And yes, I have a flip phone. And most people I know who watch Gophers don't know what GPL is either.)

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Thanks.
Now can you come over and hook my computer up to the TV for me?

I've been thinking about buying a new laptop for this purpose. Sure would be nice to watch the stream on my 80" 4K TV instead of my little 22" monitor! As I understand it, all you need to do this is a laptop with a good graphics card and an HDMI-out port, plus an available HDMI-in port on the TV.

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Next question; How do I wake my wife from her nap and suggest she go pick up our kid from her activity at 6:30 so I don't miss the game? (The catch is, I want to still be married and she knows I will be non-existent around the house to help until I get a deer starting tomorrow morning.)

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

The stream tonight is just audio per GPL. American Sports Network owns the rights and they're not allowing streaming.

WHAT!!!! This is sacrilege! All Gopher games must be televised! I was willing to risk my marriage to watch and you are telling me I can't????

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Watching Comcast #253, and the game appears to be on!

Re: Minnesota @ Notre Dame:11/6 & 11/7

Gophers had a few pretty good scoring chances in the 1st, but the Irish had some better ones, and a few more. Sure glad we have Schierhorn.
