Minnesota @ North Dakota 1/14/11

Re: Minnesota @ North Dakota 1/14/11

I love hard-nosed hockey. A little face-washing or pushing around after the whistle blows is good. The end of the second? Horsesh*.

Clean hit by UND, some pushing around, then that little prikc jumps off the bench. * that. That's what really started it.

I'd bet a thousand dollars UND comes out of this with a powerplay.

Way to state the obvious.

The ONLY way that would be called would be if it was after the horn, which I don't think it was. It was REALLY REALLY close, but I dunno if I woulda called it. You're wrong or right, depending on which fanbase you ask, in general.

Re: Minnesota @ North Dakota 1/14/11

I don't really whine about the officiating. As a fan base, we might though.
Someone is an optimist. :p

Not sure what all they have called for the end of the 2nd period shennanigans, but I don't really have a problem with the officiating thus far. The Gopher penalties were clearly penalties, as were the UND infractions. It'll be interesting to see what they call on the player who left the bench. I don't know if that's supposed to be a game misconduct or not. Anyone have a rulebook handy? :p

Here's an interesting stat: Gophers have allowed the fewest goals in the 3rd period in the WCHA.

Who left the bench of the 40 players on the ice are we talking about.

On the replay they showed during intermission it definitely appeared as though it was right before the whistle...but they could have edited it that way.
