Minnesota hosts UMD : 11/22 & 11/24

Re: Minnesota hosts UMD : 11/22 & 11/24

The Gophers' Power Play definitely needs help still, but they appear to be getting things lined up a bit on the PK. If one of the two is going to be bad, I'm happy with that being the PP, especially with there being no shortage of scoring 5x5

Should be a good weekend.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMD : 11/22 & 11/24

Really? The Dawgs couldn't even sweep some unnamed team that Jan Brady put away with ease. ;)
We did play better than them the whole weekend but couldn't pull out a friday win. SCSU is better than UMD at this point in the season.

I wonder when the last time that UMD played the Gophs when they were ranked #1 in the nation? 2007? 2008?

Re: Minnesota hosts UMD : 11/22 & 11/24

That was a source of consternation for me. I really thought that the Bulldogs could really get fans of the nameless sucking tailpipe with a sweep.

That would have been awesome but there was no way they were gonna get swept in back to back series at the Ralph. UMD never fares well there no matter how well they play.

Maybe if you woulda gone to Grand Forks instead of Houghton your team may have swept....:D

Yes, exactly. In Duluth as well against them. A few years ago I looked at all of UMDs WCHA opponents over like a 10 year stretch and their winning percentage against UND both in Grand Forks and Duluth was the worst. I seem to recall it wasn't that close.

Other things I recall is that UMD plays well against UMTC and plays very well in Colorado against DU and CC.

Found my spreadsheet. Had to update it up to current. Kind of sickening, from 98-99 to current in conference games only:

12 series in Grand Forks, UMD has on 1 time gotten better than a split and only 3 times they've gotten a split. All totaled they're 4-17-3.

Series in Duluth aren't much better. 11 series, UMD has only 1 time gotten better than a split and only 5 times gotten a split. Total is 5-15-2.

Yeah it is really brutal.

But from that date the National Championships are 1 to 1. :D

Wonder our record against the Gophs is...I'd guess closer.

That's true! :D

I'll pull it tomorrow. It's on my work computer. Sadly USBs are blocked now, so I have no way to get it off the computer, so should the computer crash or I change jobs all that work is down the tubes.

Pulling the UMD/Minnesota stats is easy. I have other stats such as first goal, leading after 1st/2nd, power-play, etc, for a lot of the games but not all. Haven't gotten around to plugging that in.
